This EX keyless thing

Hi guys

The wife and I put a down payment on an EX. Not sure when it will arrive but I was thinking about the keyless entry and push button start.

What if the battery dies in the key fob. How do you get in the car and how can you start it ?

That is what I am thinking. I asked the dealer today should I carry a spare CR2032 battery. He said no as it should last two years and will beep warning sound when it is going to die.

page 443 of the manual:

If the Smart Entry Remote Battery is Weak
If the beeper sounds, the indicator on the ENGINE START/STOP button flashes,
and the engine won’t start.
Start the engine as follows.
1. Touch the center of the ENGINE START/
STOP button with the H logo on the smart
entry remote while the indicator on the
ENGINE START/STOP button is flashing.
The buttons on the smart entry remote
should be facing you.
u The indicator flashes for about 30
seconds.
2. Depress the brake pedal (continuously
variable transmission) or clutch pedal
(manual transmission) and press the
ENGINE START/STOP button within 10
seconds after the beeper sounds and the
indicator stays on.
u If you don’t depress the pedal, the mode
will change to ACCESSORY.

As for getting in the car, there is a physical key in the fob. Just remove it and use to unlock the drivers side.

Thanks for this information. This is my first car with a smart key and was wondering about how the car works when battery flat. Hope this procedure works if and when the battery goes flat. Luckily, I have road side assistance who may help.

Thanks. I haven't had time to check out the CD yet, and I thought the "Owner's Guide" was rather skimpy compared to my old Matrix's manual and my friend's manual for her new Accord.
