I just bought an HR-V in Thailand. If I grab the driver-side door handle with the fob in my pocket, then all of the door are unlocked.

We get the safety thing. We just want what all other cars have...touch once and the drivers door unlocks, touch twice and all doors unlock. I am still trying to remember when the last time a carjacker / mugger was just standing by my passenger door waiting to jump in when I unlock the car.

Perhaps you could use the way the doors unlock as a lesson in politeness.

Passengers (particularly ladies) have mentioned how nice it was that I opened the door for them instead of letting myself in an then unlocking their door.

This is what I do. It is polite, and allows all the doors to open at once.

That must be why they left out the unlock all doors feature from the drivers side, it is a way to educate us rude people in North America on how to treat members of the opposite sex. Honda engineers think of everything. And all along people thought it was a safety thing!

NOT.............most woman think your a chauvinist if you try that on them.
They want equal rights......I sure won't do it for a man so I don't do it for a woman either.

I did it for my wife when we were dating.....she finally told me to please stop it.

Honda messed up plain and simple....

You can unlock all the doors from the driver's side — just use the unlock button on the fob.

That is true, if you have the fob in your hand. I don't keep my fob handy or in my pocket. My fob is in my computer bag that I carry in and out of work. Like every other car with a smart key that I have driven or owned, I just want the ability to unlock all doors with a second touch of the door handle sensor.

As we have said before, this is not something that makes our HR-V undesirable. I knew of this short coming prior to making my purchase. This is just one thing that Honda fell short on with the HR-V. I still think there is a way for someone at a dealer to program around this, we just need to find that right person.

Will be trying to find a fix for this as it is really irritating to have a proximity key but you need to use the key fob to unlock all doors from the driver's side.
