This again? Stop being lazy, people. Use your key fob, the passenger handle, or driver side door unlock button. :rolleye:

In 20 years people will complain about having to steer the car.

It is not as much of complaint as on observation. The Smart Key is supposed to be a convenience. The convenient part is not having to pull the fob out of your pocket or brief case to hit the unlock button. Slow is correct, you can just hit the unlock button on the fob. But, I paid for the convenience of not having to do this.
That is like paying for the automatic climate control that does everything except adjust the fan speed. Stop being lazy people and just reach over and adjust the fan up or down. How does that advice sound in that context?
I am sure Honda had their reason for eliminating the second touch to unlock all doors. I knew about this before buying and it did not stop me. It is just one area where the HR-V does not match up with other vehicles that have this feature.

That is exactly how the unlock button on the fob works.

I put the fob on a keyholder with a leather belt loop, so it's always within reach; house keys go in a separate key ring in my pocket

What did people do when they had to unlock the doors with a key? They locked the key inside the car.

Been there, done that, with a 1980 Accord whose engine was running in 100° heat in Saudi Arabia. Since women can't drive, my wife didn't have a spare key, but when help arrived an hour and a half later, the engine hadn't overheated, and the car was nice and cool inside. To say I was very impressed with the Accord's cooling system would be an understatement.

This is untrue. Putting your hand inside of the driver handle on a 2014 Honda Accord EX-L while the key remains in your pocket can in fact unlock all doors. Mine has been doing it from day one when I purchased it until today (89,000+ miles) when I got it back from some service work and it now only unlocks the driver door. Will be going back to dealership with it.
