Thank you for the Soul advice. I'll research the new engine, etc. coming out.

I am sad because I've been talking myself out of the HR-V this morning. I'm going to test drive the Crosstrek again next weekend. It's hard to beat the safety and durability of a Subaru, especially up here in the Pacific NW.

I am in the same boat on the storage. My xB has a bunch a shelves around the steering column perfect for holding lots of thing, including sunglasses. Another nice shelf above the glove box. I think I would have a hard time doing without the storage. A possible deal breaker for me too, so you shouldn't feel that it isn't important.

I'm seriously puzzled that Honda engineers missed the little things. They generally don't do that. I'm not a huge Honda fanboy, but I owned two great CRXs and a CB-750 back in the day. Back then, Honda got every little detail right the first time.

Does the 09-13 generation Fit really have that much storage space? The pics of the HRV have made me envious compared to the 07-08 Fits. Sunglasses and a tiny tube of hand cream take over the cubby with the power outlet and the phone and aux cables tangled up take up one of 2 of my cup holders. I have a smashed tissue box in the passenger seat pocket and coins in the rear cupholder because anything else tips out onto the backseat floor. The older fits dont even have an armrest unless you count the door. So having a center arm rest AND a place where I don't have to look at a rats nest of iPhone/aux/Bluetooth dongle cables? Luxurious. Keeping the cables out of sight from the nightly car prowlers in my city? Fantastic!

I have a 09 Fit. It doesn't have any storage space. It only has the 2 tier glove compartment. The HRV will not be an issue for me. But it would have been nice if it did have few cubby holes

I have never owned a Honda, but I also had the same impression on attention to detail. I don't understand how they missed out on adequate storage in the dash or map pockets in the HR-V. I get the impression it was more about the "look" of the dash, than any functionality.

We each buy a car to fit our individual needs. For me, the storage space in the HRV is adequate for my needs. I find I tend to fill up what space is available with clutter. Ask me how I know. I just cleaned out my current car. Others may find they need more storage space for specific needed items. We all have different needs and choose a car accordingly.

Good point....something for me to think about.

Test drove the HRV yesterday.
Looked like there were spaces made specifically for phone storage on the driver's side and passenger's side of the bridge.

Yeah that should help free up space under the shifter. Rethinking my reservations about storage here.

Do you guys think it would be weird to go to the dealer with stuff I usually store in the dash area to see how it would work out for me?
