Winter Tires

I have a Honda HR-V EX, it takes 17" tires but I have heard that I can put 16" winter on... Anyone try this or know if this is legit? I E-mailed my Honda sales guy and he said he heard you could use 16".

215/60R16 will work fine.

I ordered 215-60-16 for my winter tires and they are couple hundreds cheaper than 17" with steel rims.

Winter Steelies Size Question

Both the Honda dealer, and tirerack.com recommended the Winter 215/60R16 on a 16" rim.
Downsizing the winter tire 1" is pretty standard practice, as long as the diameter is close.
You can use steel, or the winter alloy rims.

Correct. The difference in wheel diameter of 1" (17" vs 16") is offset by the larger tire sidewall size of the 215/60 vs 215/55. So the overall difference in diameter between 215/60R16 and 215/55R17 is only 0.15" (26.311 - 26.157)", with the 215/55R17 having the larger overall diameter.

As suggested above. Quick link to TireRack to look at your options. I always buy second set of rims to run my snow tires on during Winter months and go with smallest tire size I can use because the narrow tires run better in snow.
