Wink Can i jump start my other car from HR-V?

Someone told me that it's not good to jump start other car directly from my HR-V, and that i need to totally disconnect everything form the battery of the HR-V before doing so. Is it true or can i just run the car, attach the cables and give it a little gas?

There is a specific procedure in the manual, pg446. There are a lot of sensitive electronics in these new vehicles that can be damaged. That's why they discourage jumpstarting.

You can do it without problems but that doesn't mean you should. Check out this link.

yeah, read the link... i think the best thing is to just remove the battery from my s2000 and connect it to the HR-V for half an hour, then put it back and try starting the car. That way i can avoid the current pulse when starting my s2000. i think...

Can you take a picture of the page? My manual is in Estonian, so i'm not sure where to look for it. There's a section on the procedure how to jump start HR-V, but i didn't find anything related to assisting other cars

thanks in advance

As long as you don't mix up + & - terminals when you jump it there shouldn't be a problem. That being said my brother once hooked up his cables wrong while jumping his Subaru & fried the ECU.

The price of those jump box / batteries have come way down. Maybe carrying one of those makes more sense than a set of cables.
