Yeah you might be right about the Pilot, looks like it's a new OS/cpu.

So perhaps the current interface isn't fast enough. Maybe Apple should remove the picture of the Honda dash from their CarPlay page.

Bought the software nav kit for the Iphone and installed the HDMI, USB and Apple adapter.
Works as advertised but is not as sophisticated as Google, Apple, tom tom or Drivex products.

However it does work and will stay on line even with discussions with SIRI and phone calls, so it is not a complete bust.

If you want to have the large screen it is clearly more cost effective (IMHO) than the in car nav system. IF you do not want the leather trim pack.

Another day in paradise.

Original Question: "@Honda HRV launch day, yet no word on CarPlay support. Will there be a firmware update for the HRV to support Apple CarPlay?"

Honda Reply: "@jscottelson There will be a CarPlay announcement soon for select '16 models, but CarPlay won't be backwards compatible on Honda models."

To me, that says that if you bought a Honda without CarPlay, you won't ever have CarPlay on that Honda.

Good stuff

More questions if I may to those who tried....I saw somewhere in the fit forums you can change the wallpaper....I guess with your own via USB thumb drive.

Anyone tried it, and if so...please share your experience and pics.

Also Re the HDMI port....if you feed it a HDMI video signal, like from a laptop for example, what do you see on the Honda screen? Do you see your laptop's display? Does it have to be in park?

I changed mine. It was very easy to change. Just plug in the drive, make sure the jpeg image is in the main file (not in a folder) and pick the image you want.

I'm new to the whole infotainment system. Just bought an HR-V and wondering is there ANY way to get google maps working on there? Or maybe a way to mirror my iPhone on the screen?

Im sure the EX/EX-L gives you more capability, but on my LX I couldn't get one to upload until I switched it from jpg to bmp. What I would like to know, is what is the max resolution you can go. Got 2 pics to appear, but not quite fill the screen.
