What did you drive before the Honda HRV?

I'm a little curious what has brought people to the Honda HRV. Is this a first car? A downsize? An upgrade from a sedan?

I am in a 2007 Honda Civic right now and although the new Civic is coming out, I am thinking that I will go for a CUV. That is what everyone is doing these days right?

I drove a 2000 Volvo S70. After 240k miles, it was time to get rid of it and upgrade.

2008 Honda Element. Would buy another if they were still made and got better MPG. Really liking my HRV in that regard. Miss being able to put bikes inside without taking front wheels off.

2016 EX-L Navi AWD. Crystal Black.

2010 Insight -- a fine car, just with a new baby we wanted something slightly larger to accommodate all the baby accessories with plenty of rear leg room for mom, too. The HR-V is a perfect "fit" for daily driving, along with our aging-but-awesome 2005 Pilot for bigger family trips (also have two teens and a dog).

2006 Honda Pilot and at times, a 2004 Accord. I wanted a smaller car, easier to park, better gas mileage. The Accord is nice, but it's still a bit long. HRV is a perfect blend of both cars.

A little history:

1966: Mercedes Benz 190SL convertible. The most unreliable car I have ever owned.
1970: Honda N-600 sedan. Out the door price less than $1700 — including optional Dunlop radials! As a graduate student at UCLA, I had a hard time getting a $1000 car loan, because the bank had never done an auto loan for that small an amount. Sold 8 years later @ 92,000 miles for $1000. Lowest total cost of ownership ever. With a non-export carb & camshaft, and Koni shocks, it was a surprisingly entertaining drive.
1978: Honda Civic 4-door (non-US model, in Saudi Arabia). Fell asleep at the wheel @ 2:00 in the morning near the Iraqi border, rolled and totaled the car. No significant injuries to me, my wife, or my 1-year old daughter.
1980: Honda Accord [Saudi Arabia]
1983: Honda Accord [USA]
1986: Ford Escort station wagon [inherited]. The worst car I have ever owned, with absolutely no redeeming virtues.
1988: Mazda MPV 4 cylinder
1990: Subaru Legacy
1996: Mazda MX6
1998: Nissan Quest (after daughter totaled the MPV)
2003: Subaru Forester
2009: Honda Fit Sport
2015: HR-V EX. Compared to the Fit, the HR-V feels like a limousine.

2006 Saab 9-3. That baby was a lot quicker than my HR-V but horrible in the snow. It was fully loaded but it had a lot repairs that needed to be done. The Honda dealership would only give me $500 for it, so I kept it as a summer only car. ****, I wish Saab wasn't out of business. So I bought the HR-V because Hondas are reliable and I needed a SUV for the winter time.

2013 Tundra 4X4 TRD Double cab...loved my truck. But it was too costly. HRV was finally a crossover I could love as much...and I do.
