My husband is eagerly awaiting the hatch...he's going to be replacing his 2001 Civic (2-door coupe with manual trans) in the next few months/year and this is his top "wanna test drive it" vehicle. I like it. The ass is kinda big but hey, fat bottomed girls make the rockin' world go 'round!

JMO, but that just has too much going on. And as far as I'm concerned, that's not really a "classic hatchback" like my '02, or a '98, something like that. Definitely looks like a sedan to me. Looks like a lot of plastic ugliness.

We love our Golf. We have the SEL. So far no issues and we e already put over 40,000 on it (the reason we bought it was my wife was traveling one end of the state to the other for work). Everything about it seems so well thought out and geared toward the driver. Little things: radio volume is preset when you get in so even if you were blasting it when you got out, normal volume when you get back in. Rain sensing wipers. The list is endless. Instruments and controls become second nature almost immediately. The most solid feeling car I've owned. Zero road noise. Smooth ride. Handling and power from the 1.8T is great. We love our HRV as well, but on a daily basis I catch myself wishing it had some of the standard conveniences that the similarly priced Golf has. If I can answer any specifics, message me.

It's not that I'm old...Your music really does suck.

Garage
The Civic Hatch could be cool, but I wouldn't be interested. It's going to be too low for my short, steep driveway. It's going to have limited luggage/storage space. It is going to be a fall-into-it seating arrangement, and a climb-out-of-it exit. It will have Apple CarPlay, though.

I don't know why they called it a "Hatch"? It is a big ass wagon. All the past Civic hatchbacks have only two doors. The last Civic hatch I had was a 87 hatchback.
