Welcome.
Many Canadians on here, and I see you're joining the small club of Canadian 2WD owners.
I was just talking with rscamp (Rob) about all the reasons we like 2WD
I live in Northern Ontario, so I"ve driven through some good snows in the last 30 years of driving, and always gotten by with 2WD.

We were going over benefits:
lower cost
lower weight
better fuel economy
higher reliability
lower maintenance cost
increased storage space
Peppier performance

A good set of winter wheels/tires is all most people need.
There are people that need to climb steep hills, or live where it's required if they don't have good plowing.

There are lots of good discussions in this thread on winter tires and rims. You should be good for a few months in Canada till you need to worry about them

Thank you Dimitri! I agree with your reasons as well for the 2WD - that is why I purchased it over the AWD version - it suited my needs....I hope it will be good. I hope to read more about actual driving experiences with the HRV from the individuals on the Forum. On my test drives it was quite comfortable so I hope real-life will be just as good.

Cheers!

I need to Add one more to my list of benefits of 2WD

Cheaper Insurance!

I noticed on my policy last month they listed my HR-V as an AWD, instead of 2WD, and sent a quick email to Amanda, my excellent insurance lady.
Not to get a discount, but to make sure it was accurate.

She replied back today, giving me credit going back to 2015 when I bought my HR-V.
I checked my bank account tonight, and hundreds of dollars were deposited! and my monthly payments for the rest of the year are reduced by $92 per month.

Again if you need AWD, buy it, it's great.
If you don't need it, there are lots of benefits of 2WD.

Interesting, I wonder if AWD owners are more confident and crash more?

I'll have to check mine now!

Was thinking the same. In the US with the cars I have purchased, it is always the VIN that is used.

I was shocked when my insurance dropped $30/month from my 09 civic to my new HRV! Didn't expect that!
