60% at 1700 miles. we picked up our HR-V the day after it was released. it's our 2nd car and we don't drive it everyday, and usually just short trips, pretty much all city driving. even on the highway it's stop and go.

I was at the Honda service center for an unrelated item and the service manager (or whatever they like to be called) said I needed an oil change because I was at 6000 miles and they recommended changing it every 5000. I asked him why then did my car still say my oil's life was at 50% and he said, "Would you rather trust a computer or our techs." I trusted the computer.

That was a great decision. He really meant to ask if you trust a computer or trust a service writer who is paid on how many additional jobs he pushes through. Surprised he did not say that they recommend 3,000 miles.

It's all set to the car's mileage--it will state '0' percent once it hits 10K---if you bring it in at, say, 8,000 miles, they will re-set it, and next time it states '0 Percent' it will be 18K.......

Our 08 Accord, 15 Pilot and 16 HRV all get 10K before needing an oil change.

I'm at about 4000 miles with 60% oil life remaining, so I'm on target for a 10K mile oil change.

I typically run Mobil 1 (full synthetic) in all my cars. All things being equal, I think it's safe to assume a full synthetic can go longer between changes than a synthetic blend. The onboard oil life "calculator" is surely pre-programmed to indicate the remaining oil life of a synthetic blend, or possibly even conventional oil to just to be on the safe side. All of these gauges (range till empty) seem to err on the side of caution.

That said, I'll be waiting until 0% before even thinking about an oil change.

It's not just the mileage; it looks at time, engine speeds, temperature, load, and bunch of other stuff to determine when it's time to change the oil. That's why some people will hit 0% at 5K miles, and some people will hit 0% at 10K miles. If you drive a lot of highway miles it'll tend to be on the longer side, and if you drive a lot of city or stop-and-go it'll be on the shorter side.

9.5K miles and finally turned 20%. I'll change the oil and rotate the tires in the next week or two before it gets too cold to get under the car.

5800 miles and still sitting about 60% oil life. Seems amazing, but we're both pretty conservative drivers, mostly highway miles at reasonable speeds and largely moderate temperatures for fall and winter here in California.
