Hey guys,

I have a 2016 HRV and I was driving along this is the series of events:
50-60km/h speed
Press set cruise control
Engine started revving hard ( not going anywhere)
Now transmission will not go into gear, reverse, park ect.
when you select the gear it still looks fine on the dash and the gear lever moves , but mechanically does not go into gear, park ect.
does any one have any idea of where to start, there is no fault codes on the display.
could cruise control be linked somehow ?
Does a catastrophic failure of the CVT show fault codes ?

Could be a transmission failure. However, if the shift lever goes into the PARK position but won't hold the car, it could be a C/V joint that came apart or an axle slipped out of the transaxle. When you put in DRIVE and give it a little throttle, even though the car is not moving, does the speedometer register?

Hey mate, thanks for your reply. The speedometer does not read at all. And infact the park gear actually does hold. Indicating to me that it sounds CVT related, do you agree ? Any checks in particular I could try before it gets sent to the dealer ?
The OBD2 scanner had no fault codes to display at all.

When I say park brake I meant the park gear keeps the car stationary.
not meaning the actual hand brake.

Honda has extended the warranty on the CVT to 150,000 Mi of 7 years. Hopefully you are under the time limit.
I wonder if this is in Australia also? Is there any evidence of the extension ?
Thanks for your help !

This thread has all the details on the CVT TSB/recalls and procedures:

There are numerous other 2016-2022 HRV recalls also:

You will have to contact your Australian Honda dealer and Australia Honda to find out if these recalls apply to Australian HRV's.
