My wife has a 2016 HRV. We recently noticed that one of the key fobs won't start the car without holding it up to the ignition button.

No low battery warning light shows.

We still changed the battery.

Still won't work. (When you open/close doors with the fob, the car gives you the audible notification like you left the car and took the keys. Remote lock/unlock still work fine on that fob. It's basically like this keyfob isn't in the car)

The other key fob works flawlessly.

Seeing so very many issues with this car and the ignition here - any updates to this issue or any other thoughts?

Guess: if it worked before and not now- and the other still works -possible damaged keyfob ? dropped or dropped in water etc and the board is cracked, soldered joint is split or it was wet and part inside is corroded ?

The fob sends out 2 different signals. one for doors and one for ignition. The ignition signal is not getting any power boost in the bad fob

Hasn't been in water and the board looks okay. Will look at solder joints on it tonight in hopes of figuring it out.

Both of you have been helpful, thank you :)

Welp, this just got more interesting...Her HRV just started showing an issue with the smart entry system. UGH. (With only the better/working keyfob in the car)
