My 2017 Honda HRV started having battery issues after further inspecting and taking it to the dealer, the Door cylinder is faulty/broken causing it to drain the battery.

I want to save some bucks and do it myself although I don't know anything about programing to the system. Will this be required? or has anyone experienced this type of issue and can guide me in the direction.

Thanks in advance.

Replacing the driver-side door cylinder on your 2017 Honda HR-V is doable as a DIY project, but there are a few things to consider. The mechanical replacement itself is straightforward—removing the door panel, swapping the cylinder, and reassembling. However, if your vehicle has an immobilizer or key fob integration, you might need programming to sync it with the system.
If you're looking for video guides or step-by-step tutorials, you might find helpful resources on platforms that offer car repair content. Just like freecine apk provides easy access to movies, a well-organized site can help you with DIY car repairs.
Have you checked if your key fob still works properly with the central locking system? That could determine whether programming is necessary.

Someone buggered up the driver's side key lock and I am trying to replace it. I have the door handle off, I have the damaged key mechanism loose, but I cannot figure out how to get it out of the door skin. The cast part is too damned large to come out through the hole. I think it must come out a different way, like through the interior of the door. All of the videos seem to deal with Civics and Accords, which are different.

Any ideas? I cannot find a video which shows this.

I have now successfully replaced the driver's side key door lock with a replacement I found on eBay. The total time for this was in the neighborhood of four *%$#@ hours, and I honestly don't know how I could have done it faster. I now know where there are NO YouTube or other videos online: it's because it's nearly impossible.
Without shooting videos inside the door's sheet metal, it's really difficult to describe what we ended up doing, but here's the challenge in a nutshell: it's very difficult to remove the door handle AND the key lock at the same time, especially since there is an actuator rod that runs between the door handle and the latch? locking mechanism? that eventually holds the door closed. Removing this actuator rod is very difficult, and has to be done blindly by reaching into the recesses of the door.
One you get the door handle removed, you have to figure out how to get the lock mechanism out of a hole that seems to be smaller than the mechanism itself. When you replace the new keylock mechanism, you have to insert its rotary actuator into a four sided socket that looks like a giant Phillips screw head, which is inside the door.
Suffice to say, we finally did it (my wife acting as the iPhone flashlight holder), but it was a bear. If there is someone out there who has either a) a better technique, or b) a better explanation, I would love to know what it was. So many dead ends, so many bruised knuckles. Luckily the part was on ly $22 on eBay and worked as promised.

It's actually my daughter's HR-V and she'll never appreciate what I went through...
