WARNING: see post #15 in this thread, these messed up the power light on my aftermarket radio

I put USB LED lights into a 12V charger, I had dual port with one for my phone. I got these for $5 online. The lights give a good amount of light and the only problem was that the angle of the front 12V port pointed the light directly into the front passenger’s eyes but I solved that by folding down the 12V charger cover door just a bit to block the light. The last picture is from outside of the car and through the window tint.

Don't the North American HR-V's come with the 'Pocket Light' above the charging points, and the blue down light that is located in the rear passenger light compartment? Both only come on witht he headlights.

There is a light above the USB/cigarette port... but it's very dim. I'm guessing its to allow you to see if you're looking for the port, but not enough to distract you when driving.

My HR-V does not have a blue light in the rear passenger area.

I bought the two interior light accessories though. The nice thing about them is that they're tied to the dash and instrument panel lights. So the brightness changes together. I like my lights just bright enough to see things if necessary, but not distracting.

The OP's lights... kinda feel like they'd distract me. If I want it that bright, I'd just turn on the map/dome lights.

I wanted those two OEM accessories too but they only come in blue and I wanted white lights. Mine didn’t come with that aforementioned rear blue light either. These lights pictured are bright, too bright, when directly looking into them but not from the sides. That one in the front is blocked by the console for the driver’s view, so it’s not distracting at all but as said it’s directly into the passenger’s eyes unless covered by the little door. Anyway, I ordered that other kind, that point downward and have brightness adjustment, and will see how they work out. These are only a few dollars and easy to install, also easy to remove if it doesn’t work out.

For the first few months of ownership I did not notice the blue light as due to COVID restrictions and that it doesn't really get dark until around 2300 in the summer.

However, when I did notice it, it gave me quite a start to see a bluish white apparition in the rear view mirror! Fortunately it wasn't a 👻 but the blue light reflecting off a light coloured coat draped over the rear seat base!

I know the Skoda Yeti had 'Submarine' lighting in the front overhead light console. This was two red LEDs that shone directly down either side of the reading lights onto the transmission area. A lot of owners wanted to know how to disable it as they found it a distraction.

Seems everyone wants some sort of simple plug in usb. Maybe time to crawl under the dash and put in "add a fuse" to the headlight circuit then stick a couple strips on LEDS on either side under the dash pointing to the floor? I had two Osmium tubes in my Fit wired so only came on/off with door opening.

I find the white LEDS in overhead plenty of lighting. Besides too old to crawl under dash anymore.

There's always the option to fit this;

Not sure how comprehensive the attached fitting instructions are if you decide (wisely) to go aftermarket.

The Price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Viewing instructions similar to when I replaced my Fit mirror Caps with ones with signal lights and fighting snaking wires through door pillar. Then silly enough to take the mirrors apart to put those arrows behind mirror glass as well.

Wow, these are a lot better! I can change the color, dim it, it automatically turns off in the daytime and it points down instead of directly out and into my eyes. It does everything as advertised in those pictures.
Well, never mind, I drove it for the first time with these and the one in the front shines directly in the passenger (right) mirror and makes it look like a car is following me. The rear one works good though.

Every day is a School Day!

You could try a bit of masking tape/blue tack, or rotate the 12V charger to block out the light shining in that direction. One annoyance I had with my VW based vehicle was the exterior lighting control panel, which was just above my right knee, would reflect directly into my wing mirror at night and there was absolutely hee-haw I could do about it.

Please note at the link below, I had an issue with my (aftermarket) radio head unit after installing these light. I don't recommend them now.
