2016 Honda HRV
6spd manual transmission (FWD)
Headlights set to AUTO
Ordered July 2015 / Delivered Oct 2015
78,000 miles
Driven in upstate New York (snow/cold)

May 2019
Car sat 2 weeks in garage
Car started up then parked on street for 10 mins off. Car would not start
Jump start, started after charging about 5 minutes

July 2019
Drove car to work 8am. Start car at 7pm no issue.
Before driving away. Shut car off, listen to podcast on radio about 30 mins.
Attempt to start. Car would not start.
Security attach battery pack, took about 5 minutes for car to start
After several days of successful start. Took car to auto parts for system
check. Battery and system pass.

Late July 2019
Dashboard warning light "key not in vehicle"Light on consistently.
No adverse effect to car
FOB battery replaced August 2018.
Did not try 2nd FOB.

August 12 2019 (Today)
Parked card at 8:02AM
Attempted to start at 12:12PM
Card did not start, power windows work
Call security for battery jump.
Arrived in 15 minutes, at this time, power windows no longer work.
Portable unit shows battery status good
Power pack attached, car start immediately
Portable unit detect battery fail during start

August 12 2019 (Today)
Replaced battery at auto parts store.
Bypass battery attached to save info
Car start with new battery and Dashboard warning light "key not in vehicle" is gone

are there any polls tracking the lifetime of the Honda HRV batteries ?
My 2016 EX 6sp manual (picked up Oct 2015) last almost 3 yrs 10 mos / 78K miles

This is interesting, because batteries are typically made better each year...it must be all of the electronics in the car

The battery is too small, it has nothing to do with quality. The CCA and reserve of the stock batt is small therefore its depletion of capacity is deeper and larger therefore it needs more recharge and does not last long. Honda has had this problem for years. The accord coupe had a 410 CCA battery and it didn’t last two years. The Battery in your lawn tractor is bigger.

In other words, every time you use the battery you’re going deeper and longer into its life.

put in a 600 CCA interstate and be done with it.

I looked in the dark with a flashlight, and it looks like a battery will fit that is about 1/2" longerr and about 1/2" wider if the battery tray is left out. It also looks like a battery that is about 1" wider will fit if it sets on the edge of the battery platform. It was made that way...I will check in the daylight to be sure later...

I got 3 cold canadian winters out my crv battery but during that 3rd winter the service advisor stated it could use a good charging .So , this winter I didnt mess around and asked them to insert the biggest battery they had into my crv (from the honda odyssy) .
