Brake pad retaining clips are long

Has anybody else noticed how long and wonky looking the brake pad retaining clips are. They stick out so far they almost contact the wheel. It’s the same on both sides. My brakes are quiet and fine. It’s just an observation of a weird design. That is all.

Well they are quit and fine so I guess they are working.... :)
