Car won't start after sitting for 7 days

I bought my HR-V 2020 Sport in October and I've already had to jump start it twice. Each time was after not using it for what I consider to be a reasonable amount of days : 1st time I hadn't used it for 11 days, the 2nd time I hadn't used it for 7 days.
The car dealer tells me it's normal, it's due to the accessories and electronics draining the battery and they recommend driving my car at least twice a week for 30min, but I find this to be exaggerated. I should be able to leave on vacation for a week (after Covid), come back and be able to start my car!
Have anybody left their HR-V sitting for over a week and if so did you have an issue starting it? Is this wide spread amoung all HR-V or is it just my car?

Keep in mind that a bigger battery may not be built with more plates made with pure lead. Thin plates charge faster and give a stronger start.
Thus less likely to sulphate.
Observe that the better battery will be heavier although the same size.
As per my previous post, haven't been able to drive the car since 23/11. Feeling well enough, I took it out for a spin down the motorway tonight to give the battery a boost and she started first time without any hesitation and ticked over nicely without any apparent issues.

Will be interesting to see what they say about the condition of the battery when I get it serviced in February.
Keep in mind that once a battery sits long and dead, it will never be reliable due to sulfates. If any of the plates become bridged by a piece of lead, the battery goes dead. When plates lose their molecules to sulfate, your cranking voltage and time are drastically reduced.

Hello I bought a Honda hr-v 2023 and it’s dies on me after three days of not using it, it’s so inconvenient when I have to go to work and end up late for my client, I’m paying so much for my payments to have this car I just can’t get in it and start it when I need too, first time it happened right when I bought it and the dealership told me after nothing is wrong with my car or battery and this is just what the cars do, all new car batteries are like this , then it happened to me three more time then went to a different dealership of Honda and then they told me my battery did fail the test and gave me a brand new battery then I went on a trip for work for two days and it did it again, this is rediculous!!

Mine has been fine after 2 weeks. The battery is the original, 2019. Sounds like you have a parasitic drain. There are YouTube videos that show you how to check if you have and how to trace it. Try turning off the boot light, the sound system, anything else that might be draining power when the car is off.

The 51R battery is available in all sorts of variations which affect its Amp-Hours rating, but 50 A-H seems about average. This means it'll deliver 50 Amps for 1 Hour or 1 Amp for 50 Hours. Or any two mathematical factors that equal 50 when multiplied.

I've not measured the normal parasitic draw on an HRV, but a ballpark might be 30 milli-amps, or 0.030 A.

So 50 A-H / 0.030 A = 1,666 Hours, or 69 days, and your battery is flat.

I wouldn't let the car go unused for more than 30 days, so the battery will be about half charged.

And fewer than 30 days in the miserable Winter.

Maybe 30ma isa little optimistic?
Anything over 100ma is definitely a fault somewhere.
check off the easy stuff first-
is there an aftermarket alarm or dealer installed electrical items that maybe draining things ?
what about any device that is left plugged into the car accessory or USB ports (but they SHOULD NOT be draining if the car is off) - ipod or other
someone posted a wired-in tracking device they found recently under the dash- for say insurance or a leasing company monitoring, could that be an issue here too ?

There is very little technical information on the 2023 North American HRV on this forum.

I hope the 2023 HRV doesn't have the small 51R battery and the variable charging strategy and the battery issues as the 1st Gen HRV.

1st up I would recommend some kind of in-cabin voltmeter. Even a basic voltmeter that plugs into the 12V outlet on the dash.
This will tell you what is going on with your HRV's charging system.
An in-cabin voltmeter will also tell you if you need to turn on your HRV headlights to fully charge your battery, as is recommended for the 1st Gen HRV's.

Can you look at your 2023 battery and tell us what model/type of battery it has?
51R or something else?
CCA's?

CR-Vs originally fitted with a 51R are now equipped with a size H5/EFB LN2. Look up the specs on this type of battery.

I have said before. There is nothing wrong with 51R. It is just the (lowest bid) crappy batteries they use in the HRVs.
