Dont understand why you would want a fabric shield under the HRV in the first place...Fabric would not stand up the the weather at all...
i saw these under the new NSX too
- its the same fabric-like material ( apparently ) as the wheel wheels etc in the 2016-2022 HR-V. Some engineered material that Honda uses, its has to be weatherproof. It lighter and prob offers better sound damping than plastic would and more forgivable in a crash or accident.

the first gen 2016 - 2022 did not have a front under shield on AWD models, only FWD cars.

So, was the DEMO an AWD, and is yours AWD, or vice versa ?
The demo was 23 sport AWD and mine is exactly the same except different color. Since there are too many people stealing the CAT for Toyota and Honda cars. So,, I just took a look and I saw a video from YouTube that he took a video for the HRV from a dealership back in June. I think that it fabric shield may protect some salt in winter.

could be part of the dealer prep that they failed to do ? ( on that note check tire pressures - and the spare tire too !- i bet they didnt set those correctly either)

There are wire and etc there. in Northeast we have snow and salt like 3-4 months a year. I will ask Honda customer service about the fabric shield but have no hope that they will answer.

I have a 2017 FWD EX and it has that material underneath each wheel well. I was skeptical on how it would hold up, but its been pretty awesome. Its also surprisingly easy to clean and dirty/mud comes off with just a spray of water.
