Curious what the consensus is if those planning to buy would also do an extended warranty on this car. I typically avoid these, but wondering if buying a first year release of a new model would increase takers.
But my understanding is that it's the first time this car has been built at the Mexico plant too.... so a new model for the plant seems like a first year to me regardless.
We typically lease for 3 years which is under the factory warranty. If we like the vehicle, and it is accident free, we will buy it and pay for the 7 year extended warranty. It makes for peace of mind if we keep it for 7 years or easy resale if we move it sooner. We have a 2009 Pilot with extended warranty to Aug. 2015. Our navigation unit just died and is being replaced this week. The cost of this repair is more than the cost of the extended warranty. We lucked out. A fully optioned vehicle has more stuff that can go wrong.Curious what the consensus is if those planning to buy would also do an extended warranty on this car. $1700 is way too much. My HRV warranty cost me around $1300. My two 2016 Civics warranties, which I bought after the HRV, cost $1200 and $1015. Bargain with your dealer. If you can not push the price down, shop around. I think you can buy an extended warranty as long as you have less than 6000 miles on your car. Also make sure that it is a bumper-to-bumper warranty. Some even have $0 deductible. My dealer is offering me the 8 year 120K mile Honda factory extended warranty for $1700 which seams like a good deal. Any thoughts or price comparisons? I've been lucky enough to never had any unusual car troubles on our old Toyota RAV4 or Honda Oddessy. I've only leased German cars so that was never an issue either since it's only for 3 years.
Try http://hyannishondacare.com. That's where I bought my Honda Care for the Civic. Although I bought the car from another dealer (100 miles away), I purchased the warranty from them. Their price was substantially lower than the dealer I bought the car from: I think $1400 vs $1025. I filled online the information: Year, model, coverage Years/miles $100/$0 deductibles and email address and they emailed me the prices. Very very competitive. I dealt with Sean Rausch.Good to know. That was for the Honda factory extended warranty which is the only one I would want. Any dealer will honor it and it's transferable or partially refundable if you trade in the vehicle.
Boston area, Massachusetts....Can I ask where you are located? I'm curious because of the price you paid for your extended warranty.
