I believe that little blinking light is a decoy, meant to scare off thieves by letting them think there is an actual active alarm system at work. In fact, there is no OEM security system. I've had several other vehicle makes with the same ploy.

I know 2018 and 2019 USDM HR-V EXs have an OEM security system.
