Mold is like rust in the way that what you see on the outside, there is ten times more on the inside. It's also treated similar to get rid of it, there is no way to stop it by doing "damage control" on the outside of the panel. You have to remove the panel and clean it from the inside fully or it will continue to return again.

Any idea what is causing this? I thought it was odd that it atarted around the interior light almost like a battery exploded

The locations where you are experiencing mould would indicate the cause is water ingress from either a blocked sunroof drainage channel, or the rubber roof rail strips have either perished or become detached allowing water to enter;

Overhead lights. Water is pooling forming standing water and this is causing the mould.

Mould coming out of the airvents, Once sufficient water has built up in the interior of the roof, it is running down the A pillar, and is getting into the HVAC system somewhere.

Mould around the front windows. Water is running down both the A and B pillers, and is causing the mould.

Check the sunroof drainage channels for debris build up (leaves, dirt, etc);
