Very smart move....bmw doing the same...will make dealer inventory more uniform so less dealer transfers/searching dealers for what you want.....Acura has had good luck doing this....
As more things become computerized I could see software upgrades on the lot to bring additional revenue. For example, sell one head unit for all models but have software unlocks like GPS, car play, etc. Or engine tunes to distinguish trims. One car to manufacture, continue with different price points
