I thought it might be useful to us all to talk about how we conduct a test drive. We're about to spend tens of thousands of dollars. Maybe worth a little advance preparation? (hint: researching all the comments pro and con on this forum is a great start).

So share how you personally go about a test drive!

Note: These are just the first 4 results of hundreds from a quick Google search. I don't vouch for or necessarily endorse any of these. But you can do your own search and find a zillion "how to" links.

Looking forward to hear how you test drive a car.

The only car I ever bought (not a hand me down from family) I sat in it at the auto show. I went to 5 dealers to drive it. No one had a single one on the lot. Called several more, same story. They said I could put down a deposit and look at their shipment list. Picked the dealer that was the least condescending to a college grad buying her first car. Put down $500. Waited 2 months for an acceptable color (not red or orange). Played with the radio while they prepared the papers. Drove it off the lot hours after it came off the shipping truck. That was my test drive, driving it home after work the night it arrived to the dealer. And that's why I will wait until this fall when dealer lots are fully stocked with HRVs and other makers also have their 2016 models trickling in for an equal 2016 to 2016 comparison.
