Do you think that that will make a difference in terms of sales? I would say that the Renegade is much more widely known than the HRV, and it could be because the Renegade has been in the spotlight more at auto shows and such.

The Renegade has been at every single show, I believe. It was even in Phoenix while the HR-V was not. ( I note that in most show pictures, the car is on a stand and cannot be touched by the crowds).

I think Honda thinks that when the HR-V becomes available for sale, it will be a great success. It may not feel it needs to get models out there to many shows for that reason.

Another possibility is that they are still pretty far away from production and just simply don't have that many cars ready for display. ( hard to believe, I know, but nothing surprises me.)

I personally think Jeep has the better strategy. It gives the impression they are first and can establish a following across the country, in cities large and small..

I suppose that Honda could still do a marketing push closer to when the HRV is actually going to come on sale. That could hype up the HRV closer to launch. The Renegade has been pushed on people for quite a while now. I just wonder if advertising so early actually is a good investment. Perhaps they could have waited and saved some marketing dollars.

they have to, they can't let a good time like this go to waste, especially in a growing and lucrative segment. i'm sure we'll see some good marketing material from them.
