Hi, all! Last year, just before the pandemic, we bought my wife a black 2019 HR-V EX when her 2000 Subaru Forester became too much of a financial (and pain-in-the-butt to maintain) burden! Lol! I'm also a member of the CR-V Owner's Club forum, since I'm also a proud owner of a beautiful 2016 CR-V EX in Mountain Mist Metallic (Teal). And before that, I owned a 2001 CR-V LX from new. So far, that was the best, most reliable vehicle I've ever owned! I sold it with 296k miles on it, and it would've gone longer, but I wanted that 2016. Before that, I had a very fun-to-drive '86 Accord EX Hatchback. I attended Lincoln Technical Institute years ago to become an Automotive Technician, but I decided to follow my musical dreams instead, and became a professional touring bass player instead. But, I still do our own car maintenance, but not interested in doing much more than that these days, since our Hondas are still under warranty. I do, however, still enjoy "talking shop", and keeping up-to-date on what's new. The HR-V is a great, little SUV! Glad to be on here!

Welcome to the forum! I'm the Brand Director for a Honda dealership in San Antonio. My college major was Communication Arts, I chose it to pursue film production. Unfortunately, I didn't find an opportunity to pursue movie production as a career in my hometown, so I adjusted into marketing. I'm glad that I get to promote Honda, as I truly believe in their product and have owned two myself and converted others to Honda. It's good to hear that you were able to pursue your music dreams! Thank you, 55mpg! Nice to meet you! Ah, a fellow "creative type" who also loves Hondas! That's great! I actually toured for many years as a bass player with various artists/groups. I spent 9 years touring Internationally & recorded 3 albums with Blues artist, Debbie Davies. She used to tour with the late, great Blues guitarist Albert Collins. But, I also play classic rock, funk, fusion, and I'm a huge Beatles & Paul McCartney fan. I've had the great pleasure & honor to have performed two Paul McCartney tribute shows with ex-Paul McCartney & Wings guitarist, Lawrence Juber. He was with Wings from 1978 to 1981, when Paul dissolved Wings. Really fun shows! I've also worked with some major producers on some other people's albums, and I sometimes back up other artists, like Michael Allman (the late Gregg Allman's oldest son). There's been a lot of Blues greats that I've had the honor of either performing with or sharing the same billing with through the years as well, like John Mayall, Hubert Sumlin, Bob Margolin (good friend of mine who used to play with Muddy Waters), Shemeka Copeland, the late, great B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and many more. So, although I've been a sideman as a bass player, I've been trying for several years now to find the time to record a solo album, but life keeps getting in the way! I keep saying, "One day. One day..." A lot of the songs are complete and ready to go, so perhaps when life gets more back to normal, and my family is able to go back to work & school, I'll be able to go back into my home studio and fire it up once again! I can't be belting out vocals, booming on bass, banging on the drums, and wailing on guitars while my wife & kid are home! Lol! So, which Honda Dealer in San Antonio are you with? I think I may have once ordered a part or something from a Honda dealer in San Antonio a few years back...Sounds familiar. I'm always pushing people to buy Hondas too! Family, friends, FB acquaintances, etc... They are the best, most reliable vehicles! One other thing about Honda vehicles that has always impressed me, is Honda's ability to make so much useful internal space in every vehicle, which is especially apparent in their smaller vehicles. I loved my 2001 CR-V, which I owned since new. It was so roomy and functional for such a compact SUV. I kind of still miss that one, but the automatic transmission started to develop a loss of pressure in 1st gear after about 1/2 an hour of driving. It became a pain unless you were just cruising on a highway, then it was fine. I don't do transmissions, so it would've cost me around $2700 to have it done right. At 296,000 miles, not worth it. But, the engine still ran perfectly! Never burned oil. That SUV was tough as nails, and it never, ever left me stranded in the 17 years I owned it! I'm hoping my '16 CR-V, and my wife's 2019 HR-V last as long, or longer! OK...I've rambled on enough here! That's incredible! It is likewise a pleasure to get to know you. I've always wanted to learn how to truly play a musical instrument. I played clarinet when I was in 6th grade. I played random keys on pianos every time I find myself in front of them. And I took a guitar class in high school. But most of my activity has been on the digital side. I have Logic Pro X, Final Cut Pro X, messed around with Ableton Live, my friend has Studio One; way back in the day I used Sony Acid, and Creative Soundblaster Software. I mainly focus on the software side of things. I always wanted to design an album cover. I designed a few concepts just for fun, but never for an album in circulation. My friend was the sound and lighting guy for a church we used to attend. I met him when I joined the church and I perfected my video skills there while volunteering. You meet a lot of great people in the creative world. He was invited to tour with some Christian bands. He didn't because it is a serious commitment and you can't just do it on a volunteer basis. He ended up becoming the softer equivalent of an ambulance driver. It pays the bills. For me, I got back into video outside of work on YouTube. I miss being truly creative for the fun of it. Even YouTube has become about the views to me. There's something about just making something because you love it. I'm at Hill Country Honda. It's the newest, largest, Honda dealership in San Antonio, Texas. I joined every major Honda forum I could find to connect with fellow Honda enthusiasts. I believe there is a culture around every product. I'm a big Apple fan for example. I don't work for Apple, but I used just about every Apple product after 2010. And Honda is no different. There is a community that believes in it.
Sounds like you do have some natural ability to play music. It then becomes a matter of time and dedication to becoming proficient at it. As a teenager, I loved playing bass so much, that I'd stay in my room and practice and play along with some of my favorite bass players/bands for hours and hours every day! You definitely can meet a lot of like-minded people in the creative world! It's a beautiful thing to be part of something so incredible and vast!

When you are genuine, passionate, and confident about creating something, and you are really good at what you do, others pick up on that, for sure. To me, it's also what separates the pros from the amateurs.
OK. I'm not familiar with Hill Country Honda. I must have been thinking of another dealership. Can't remember which one though at the moment. But agree with you about there being a culture associated with every product. I would join more Honda forums myself, but I wouldn't have the time for them all. So far, I've really enjoyed hanging out on the Honda CR-V Owner's Club forum. Lots of knowledgeable owners on that one. And, I'm liking this one too! Great chatting with you! See you on the forum!
