Hi folks - two questions:
1 - My key fob seems to be misfiring. Unlock will lock. Most of the time, it does nothing. Light appears on half the time. Tried replacing the batteries.. nada. Other key works fine. Thoughts on what to do?

2 - I have a 2016 LX, so the giant Honda style keys. Does anyone know if there are alternate 'housings' for this, i.e. the plastic housing. Maybe one that allows me to flip the metal key piece? I do see the metal piece pops out without issue.

1. Identical symptoms to when my LX remote failed. Details in this thread: Honda HRV 2016 Key Remote Issue

2. Are you asking about aftermarket "switchblade" key fobs. I'm not sure if the aftermarket makes those for the HRV or compatible. Check Amazon and Ebay for those plus key cutting plus programming.

Yes, I meant aftermarket housing. Since the electronic piece just pops out, as does the metal key piece, I was wondering if anyone had made a conversion where I could just pop both out and pop them in, so to speak.

I assume key replacement for a 2016 isn't covered under the drivetrain warranty.. ha. I've not even got 20,000 miles on this thing, but it's out of the standard warranty... :-(

Following up on this, I was able to find alternative housing (i.e. I converted it to a flip)

But my question re the key failing. When I press any button the red stays on.. and then it kind of spazzes out, i.e. the horn beeps (as if it's locking again) whenever I press anything. Yet, notably it continues to start the car OK. is it just a dead key at this point?

And does anyone know if the big keys can be self-programmed like this? https://www.smarthondadesmoines.com/program-your-honda-remote/
