has anyone attempted to remove the fog light lens unit from the housing without having to remove the bumper?

I purchased a replacement fog light unit to replace the cracked lens currently installed.

I watched a couple of videos online and the light housing is being held by three screws, any chance these screws are accessible without removing the bumper?

thanks in advance!

finally stopped raining so I was able to get under the car this morning and do a practice run!

i removed 5 clips at the bottom and one screw on the fender, I was able to peel the cover to remove the screws without removing the bumper. I can’t replace the lens yet as the replacement will arrive tuesday.

thank you for your time in researching that installation pdf - this forum is great!

I quickly browsed through it and it requires for the bumper to be removed. I was able to get my hands on the lens housing by simply removing the clips at the bottom, with these clips removed, i was able to remove the lens without detaching the bumper.

non oem fog lights arrived last night. I was able to replace both fog lights without removing the bumper within 2 hours. replacement unit is an exact fit to the oem housing, simply remove the oem broken unit and replace with non oem unit.

Not that difficult but very tight space to get a philips screwdriver to remove one of the three screws that’s on far inside of the housing.

1). I removed 5 clips from the bottom to gain access to the fog light.

2). I removed one screw on the forward panel to gain access to the inner screw of the housing

3). very tight area but was able to squeeze a hand inside.

Nice job repairing the fog lights and then adding more protection.

It reminded me of upgrading the wimpy horns on our HRV.
The passenger side HRV horn is accessed in a similar way as you accessed the foglight.

I wonder if Honda ever put some decent horns in the newer 2020/2021 HRV's?

You can see the horn in the second picture, my neighbor’s dog is more audible than the oem horn!

Now that you’ve mentioned it, another item to upgrade on the car  it’s never ending!

Can confirm I also replaced the left fog light on my 2016 HRV without removing the bumper. There are three screws which hold the fog light casing to the car. You can find them by feel, just use a stubby Philips head to remove them and the casing and fog light will come off. I bought the fog lights from AliExpress, they were super cheap and a perfect OEM replacement.
