Honda posted this new press release, along with a new photo, today.

10/20/2014 - TORRANCE, Calif.

  • All-new stylish entry crossover to offer surprising levels of sophistication and versatility inside and out
  • HR-V will serve as the entry point to Honda light truck lineup
The all-new Honda HR-V entry crossover (automobiles.honda.com/hr-v) will make its North American debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show on Nov. 19. Previously seen only in pictures, the HR-V will serve as the entry point to the Honda light truck lineup, positioned below the CR-V in both price and size and competing in an all-new segment for the brand.

With sleek styling and expressive character lines, the HR-V is anticipated to launch this winter. Built on the same global compact platform that underpins the critically-acclaimed Fit, the HR-V will feature a versatile and spacious interior thanks to an innovative center fuel tank layout. The HR-V will be equipped with the Honda-exclusive Magic Seat®, which allows for multiple seating configurations and the ability to fold the second row seat completely flat for added cargo space.

Further details about the Honda HR-V will be revealed on Nov. 19 at 12:35 p.m. PST at the Los Angeles Auto Show. For the latest HR-V editorial photography, please visit hondanews.com/channels/honda-automobiles-hr-v.

date

Is there any doubt that they will have a date for us?? They use this show a lot for debuts. In 2012 they debuted the 2013 Civic and had it on sale in a month (in 2011 it was the 2012 CRV). If they repeat what they did with the Fit (announced a date and then did the white glove test and then some retooling) we can guess February. However maybe they ironed out enough issues that the white glove test goes smoother this time and we can see them by January. They use the words "Anticipated to launch this winter". We'll see what that means in a month.

It means we [Honda] have changed our minds, but this is phrase that sounds best to us and consumers. Its like saying Maybe...
The original Vezel they showed at Tokyo but then only released more information about the car 1 day before it went on sale in Japan! I'm still thinking March with production probably starting after January 1st and a big Super Bowl Ad to kick it off. I have no creditable source of information that would confirm that, just what's been spinning around the rumor mill, but my gut feeling is that's the sort of timeline we're looking at.

Too bad they didn't say that it would be at the San Francisco Auto Show, I was hoping it would be there. Hopefully in L.A. they allow access to the interior and more information, unlike the Euro debut which really didn't tell us all that much.

I really like the blue color in the photo, I think this is the first time we've seen this particular shade of blue.

The press release makes it sound like they aren't sure about the release date yet.

I also think this is a strange phrase for the press release:

All-new stylish entry crossover to offer surprising levels of sophistication and versatility inside and out
It is a weird choice to put "surprising" in it. Should people be surprised that Honda has made something sophisticated?
Remember....

...they have shown this car as the Urban Concept and then showed those great pictures at the NY auto show of the HRV. This is the debut. I have to imagine that they will have details for us. This is only a teaser for the actual debut. I'm sure they will have all the flash and pizzazz of the Fit debut. They are not going to release details in this presser, next month we should get those.
Finally some real news we can talk about....

I originally predicted the LA Auto Show as the debut several months ago and more recently predicted the Detrioit Show since we hadn't had any news to speak of. They will probably tells us about trim levels , colors and powertrain info, hopefully give us a sales date and prices (but I'm not holding my breath on those)

From the new picture we can tell this version has keyless entry/push button start (due to the small button on door handle), turn signal lights on sideview mirrors, roof rails and fog lights. This is probably a EX or EX-L trim level.
This is probably a EX or EX-L trim level.
This is just a guess, but I'm going to say EX just because the black along the lower edge of the wheel arches. On the higher end Vezels, they replace the black with the body color.

I just noticed the wheels, those look very nice to me.

Do you think that the back will look like the Euro HRV or the Chinese one?

Chinese

or

Euro

I wouldn't bet this is the EX trim. An EX should have a sunroof, and this doesn't. Also looking at the head lights, they don't have the LEDs, so my guess is this would be a base LX.

What I find more interesting that they named the file that shows this image 16HR_V_Teaser_Final.jpg. That tells me this may be what the NA HRV looks like. We've all been speculating as to how it will compare to the AP or European variants we've seen. This may give more of a clue.

or
Euro
If the image is indeed the NA version, you can see the downward slope of the tail lamp at the rear corner. Chinese would be my bet based on that.
I like the Chinese rear end much more, I just think that it suits the rest of the squared lines on the HRV better than the other look.
its not going to be the Chinese version, its a completely different model XRV. China is having both models. We won't get XRV styling because it doesnt jam with Honda's current NA styling...

The theory is good but the only reason I have to doubt it is that they still wont have product in stores for at least another month after Superbowl. Ford had a fiasco when they ran advertsing for the MKZ during superbowl only to hit production snag and there was no product in stores as customers came streaming in after the superbowl spot..
I also think we'll see more of the Euro style rear end, not the XR-V. In the photo you can see the white part of the tail-light that is on the side of the car. The XR-V's white portion is solely on the back end and you can't see it from the side.

Also, it looks like there are some lines on the roof forming a rectangle in the picture that could be a moon-roof. It's really hard to tell, but looking closely I think there's something there.

Zooming in I can see what you're saying about the lines that appear to be the moon roof. So, I stand corrected. May be an EX of some sort.
Looking at the Honda site I found the Fit's press releases. They débuted it in Detroit which is a January car show. They announced at the beginning of April that it would go on sale towards the end of the month and then they ran in to the infamous white glove test issue. Not only was the Fit a new car but it was also a new plant. The 2103 Civic and 2015 CRV were midterm refreshes and they had sales dates ready.

So my best guess is that they will gives us lots of details but no date. If we add the three months of the Fit that puts us in March and hopefully the white glove test goes smoothly this time. Maybe I'll have a new car (HRV or Civic) in the Spring.
I can't wait. Keep checking sites everyday for more news.

Same here, I have come to the conclusion that we'll have to wait for the shows that come up at the end of this year and early next year for significant information. Just need to wait this one out. But of course while we wait i'm sure there are a number of things to be discussed.
