Hello HR-V Community! I have a 2018 HR-V EX, and want to upgrade the steering wheel to leather. Not looking to do a DIY sew-it-yourself solution. I'd like to upgrade the steering wheel to the wheel from the EXL. My service department is telling me that the steering wheel from the EX and the EXL are not compatible. Does anyone have any experience with this? It seems like it should be compatible. If not, I'm likely going to remove the steering wheel myself, and send it to a company in Texas to have it professionally wrapped, along with the shift knob. Has anyone removed the steering wheel? Any tips/advice? Thanks!

Fun footage of taking a car apart. About 1:40 it shows steering wheel removal. The whole video is only 5 minutes.

Good luck getting your wheel wrapped. Hope the job goes smoothly.

The EX-L wheel is definitely compatible. I swapped mine with one from the JDM Vezel RS, but it's really not a different process. There's nothing complicated about it, all the controls simply swap over and you're only swapping the frame.

College Hills even has the EX-L wheel for sale in their HR-V accessories section: https://www.collegehillshonda.com/product/78501-T5A-KIT.html

Was it just a matter of the two side bolts holding the airbag assembly and then removing the steering wheel piece?

If you are messing with wheel and airbag, the batt MUST be disconnected.
