When you fill up with gas, how do you reset the gauge to zero?

Which gauge?

Fuel: doesn”t ever, nor should it, since ”zero” is an empty tank.

trip A/B: Will depend on if you want to do it manually or automatically.

The trip can be changed manually by pressing and holding the stalk/knob in the instrument cluster a few seconds (should only be about 3 seconds), when you have the matching trip selected.

On EX and above trims, you can also reset it automatically in the settings of the multi-information display.

But either way, wouldn’t this have been quicker if you had just read the manual?

I will say, somewhat to Marshall's defense, I was a bit confounded at first: on the reset of A, and what was displayed. To compound, the car had 117 mi. on it - but as dealers now do, I picked up with a full tank of gas. However, the trip meter wasn't reset. so my trip A and odometer all had the same mileage. It wasn't until my first fuel stop that I realized the 117 was rolled into the trip. LOL, for a moment I thought I was getting record breaking MPG!

Read the 'Information Display' section of the handbook beginning page 114 (at least in the pdf version). I also found the 'customization diagram' (p 125) confusing as hell at first. Mine is not set to automatically reset upon fueling, so I don't have to think about it. I do like the 'last 3 Trip A' info. I leave the B as is, or until I take my first long distance drive.

Just on case the OP is experiencing the same thing that we did, when in the drivers seat the stalk "button" is actually hid from sight by the steering wheel. I never drive "if I can help it" and she asked me the same question one day after recently purchasing the car. Ours is a 2019 Sport, and I don't know if the steering wheel placement in perspective of the gauges has changed, but its possible the OP just doesn't even see it.
