I expect functionality from vehicles, which means roof rails and hitch are mandatory, for bikes and things.

I see the HRV roof rails are listed on the EX-L model only here

I don't want to pay for top of the line sunroof/leather, so I hope they can be offered as an option, just like the CR-V.

Also I hope there will be a trailer hitch option. I see the Australian model is rated for 500/800kg. I have a light weight aluminum trailer (130kg), that would be nice if I want to pick up building supplies (insulation), or buy a new stove.

It's a fairly safe bet Honda will off both as options. But, don't be afraid to go aftermarket for these items. I'm sure Thule will have racks available quickly. You can probably get a hitch from U-Haul for just about any vehicle. And, WeatherTech will have their all weather liners and mats soon after release, if they don't already!

Yakima decided the 2015 Fit was "unyakible" due to the roof design so I'd be leery of after market racks for the HRV as well. Plus after 8 years my Yakima has chewed up and spit out the door seals on my 2008 Fit, I'm done with that nonsense. If racks/hitches are limited to the top trim only, like the other 75% of Seattle I'm going to run over to Subaru.

As of today I saw Yakima is listing all their hitch options for carrying bikes on the HRV. Look for 2015 they don't list it as 2016

Looks like they don't have any options for carrying things on the roof.
Their only carriers go into your hitch, but as no one sells one yet it's kind of a mute point.

Thanks, Trickycoolj and Clark Dogg, for checking and posting the links!

But it's a step in the right direction! It means they think there will be a hitch available in the future, and that's a good idea.

Nice! Anybody have an experience with Curt Hitches? This is high on my HR-V wish list
2010 Prius bolted right up. No problem. Highly recommended.

Don't know if holes are pre-drilled for an easy fitment on the HR-V ... but I would expect so.

Are the instructions available for download?

EDIT: I see they're $149 w/free shipping via the Big River.

EDIT #2: Oops, my bad. The instructions are right there on the curtmfg.com site. Very clear. Utilizes existing holes. As I recall, the only problem I had was getting the muffler off the rubber hangers (on the Prius) ....

Could you post a link to where the hitch is available for $149? Tried googling "Big River" but could not find it.:crying:

The Big River, that's a good one.
Thanks for posting the link, I think I might buy that one, nice and light weight.
Please report back how it .... uhhh, "fits." Plus any difficulties you have ... their instructions indicate 15 minutes ... heck, it takes me that long just to read the instructions.

I saw a Fit yesterday with a nice looking Thule bike rack on a 1 1/4" receiver ... did not appear to have a 1 1/4" to 2" adapter....

I just called here
http://www.canadianhitches.ca/curt-trailer-hitch-114163/

They said he was already talking with someone else today about the HR-V hitch. Curt is sold out in US and Canada for the HR-V, and they are back-ordered till the end of July.
I hope it's not true.
After going through all the main resellers on the Curt site, the only ones that were selling the hitch cost more then the link on amazon, so I ordered it.
Estimated delivery date:
Tuesday, July 14, 2015 -
Friday, July 17, 2015

I then send a follow up Email to confirm they has stock, and received this reply.

"I just contacted Curt directly to inquire about their stock. They said that the hitch is currently in production and they will have it available in WI on Friday 7/10. Sorry for this delay. We were unaware of this issue until just now. Please let me know if you would like us to ship it out when available or if you would prefer to cancel your order."
With free shipping, the final cost was 157.92

I'm still (im)patiently waiting for Yakima to make a fit kit for their control tower so I can reuse my round bars and current gear. I'd easily save $100-200 vs going OEM or switching to a hitch and needing all new carriers for bikes and skis. When I said "so is it looking more like ski season than bike season for this car?" The guy said yes, they're not even done fitting racks to 2015 cars but that this one has been very popular so it will probably be one of the first 2016's they fit.
