I may be wrong but I'm pretty positive that if you all take your time to look at this short video https://youtu.be/hlEEHHLW3eQ at 0:24 the r18 motor looks like it has a turbo with blow off valve. I've tried to look for that particular car to see the specs but nothing has popped up. Looks amazing in my opinion and makes me curious how much power it is making compared to stock.
Incase you guys are wondering, I'm 19 a car guy. I just became intrested in the hrv recently because I can upon a picture of one that was lowered and it looked really nice alot like a hatchback

SEMA had a few HRVs running turbo setups. Adding a turbo to any engine isn't the hard part. It really is just selecting a specific turbo, the piping, and the cooling. The hard part is the tuning of the engine. You either have to go with a stand alone EMS or some sort of piggyback system.

I suspect in the next few years, you will see more companies come out with an off-the-shelf turbo kit for the HRV.
It would be interesting to see a turbo model. Though I honestly don't see it being a huge benefit for the HRV.

Maybe, but only if the HRV gets a new motor, and even then it'd be a side benefit of a company putting together a kit for another car that happens to share the same motor. No company has come out with an off-the-shelf turbo kit for the R18 the whole 8 years it's been around. I can't imagine any company would devote R&D time now to build one considering only the HRV is currently using the R18, the HRV isn't a volume seller, and the subset of HRV owners who would think of slapping on a turbo probably isn't particularly high.

The 1.5L turbo used in the new Civic seems like the natural choice IF Honda is to offer that option. Realistically, I think the turbo is a more likely option for the rumored Acura version of the HR-V, as it would provide a distinguishing Acura feature unavailable on the HR-V.

I see the transmission as a more serious issue than engine tuning for a home brew turbo kit. For the 6 speed, a stronger clutch might be needed, and turbo + CVT is a combination that may never work properly, unlike the 1.5L turbo, where both were designed by Honda to work together.

Jackson Racing also came out with a supercharger setup for the R18 motor.

nice read snowball, totally reminds of my younger years fixing up Hondas lol
Its an old thread I know but I wanted to post what I found out after Emailing Jackson racing
"We currently do not have any plans to do a kit for the HRV. There is also no tuning available for the HRV, so even if you fit the 06-11 R18 kit on it, there would be no way to tune it,
Regards,

Jackson Racing Sales.

****. I was jonesing for this kit. Maybe we have to sent them monthly sales reports of the HR-V to see if that changes their minds. LOL

They'd see more demand from 100 Civic Si owners than they'd see from 10,000 HRV owners, and they know that.

Seeing as the new civic in the EU has 1.5 turbo with CVT or manual - I don't see why this combo shouldn't appear on HR-V after the facelift
Possibly that if they have an Acura version on the drawing board- they would need that drivetrain for the " premium market model " -maybe ?
Engine Performance Modifications

Im sitting here thinking of an HR-V EX with a manual tranny and the possibility of doing some performance mods like a turbo, anyone have any thoughts of doing this?
I've seen posts here about putting r18 engine mods on from the Honda civic. There is a turbo kit for this engine in the civic, but the company would not modify it to fit our hrv if memory serves me right.

If you find something let us know, but I don't think this will be an easy car to tune!
I have not done much research regarding HR-V turbo kits but I have built turbo kits from junkyards and eBay. It's not difficult, the hardest parts are the exhaust manifold and intercooler piping. Could easily be done. I just got my HRV a couple of nights ago, I'm about to go poke around the engine bay.

im trying to hack the ECU (Mex) but I had no luck
Hondata has an interface kit for the R18 - maybe that could help you.

thats for the civic...
HR-V's have different ECU part numbers.... so it wont work
im talking to people in asia that actually can remap the HR-V... even in Brazil... maybe I'm gonna spend some money to try to tune the HR-V... if i can do that... I'll try to get a custom turbo setup
Supercharger or Turbocharger

I jus got Sylvia (2016 HRV- EX AWD) in August of last year. Im debating on which to get as a gift to myself and her for Christmas this year. Supercharger or Turbo?Thoughts?
