Last week I was standing by the rear of my car and the sunlight was hitting the taillight in such an angle that something was obviously odd.
Because of the lines in the clear plastic it was very hard to see the water.

I visited the dealer and they are ordering a new gasket. We'll see if this works out.
My car is coming up on its second year (September) and 19,000 kilometres.
This has been the only issue to date. Very pleased not to have experienced the bad problems other people have encountered.

First I've seen of that, hopefully not a re occurrence for you in the future!

Today the dealer took the light assembly off and drained the water out and installed the new gasket/seal.
When I picked up the car, I noticed that there is discolouration where the water was. If it doesn't disappear then it will be another trip to the service department looking for them to replace the light assembly.
By the way those rims are very unique. Very bold, I might add.

Water in taillight

Just noticed this over the weekend after washing my car. It might be hard to see in the photos but there's a considerable amount of standing water and condensation in my driver side tail light. Anybody else experience a similar issue?

Just a quick update on the tail gate light.

After the dealer drained the water out, replaced the gasket, there was still a water mark that didn't go away, as hoped. The service manager immediately ordered a replacement light. I received a call that it finally came in yesterday and they could put it in today, which they did.
The reason for taking three weeks was it was on back order, normally would be no longer than a week. I am concluding that this is happening more frequently than is known.
Colonial Honda, in Halifax, didn't hesitate in ordering the replacement light. I thought there might be a problem, but there wasn't.

Because of the lines in the lens, it is hard to see the water. That is until it starts to tarnish the brightwork in the lens.

I hope this helps anyone else who discoverers the same issue.

Apparently my car decided to join the wet tail reflectors club as well. Just noticed it today, but don't use the hatch that much, so it might of filled up earlier.
Hopefully the dealership is done with hurricane Harvey cars & can fix mine, again...
I'm sorry to hear that you are in this "club". If you are receptive to advice, request the dealership order and replace with a new light. Don't waste your time with draining. Once water gets around the bright work, it tarnishes.

I noticed mine yesterday- passenger side - filled with water. Since my last experinece with the dealership (warranty rear shock and then some bodywork repairs) was HORRIBLE- I will look at this myself and see if the gasket is torn, dislodged etc and maybe deal with it on my own.

Anybody know if both (or all) the bolts be reached from that lightbulb access door ? Or do i need to remove some panels ?
Thanks.

If it’s still under warranty, try to go to a different dealer than the “horrible” one. It can be fixed for free by any Honda dealer.
Once you mess with it, the warranty work might not be qualified if your fix doesn’t work or it gets worse and you have to get it fixed by Honda. .

If not still under warranty, have at it.

There is no actually gasket I can find. The two half are glued together. There is probably a crack somewhere. Have the dealer replace it if still under warranty.

There are two bolts on the outside and two more behind the backup light bulb access door.

bolts on the outside ? are those the 2 you can see when you lift the hatch - they hold the tailight portion that is attched to the body and not the hatch.
I would only remove the "hatch" potion- which is actually a large reflector and only has the back up light in it.

I'll take a look what i can see through that interor access door.
