I don't think that the HRV is really the type of vehicle that needs a bigger engine. If you are looking for a big engine then you should probably look into a different vehicle.
Remember that this is just an A-to-B vehicle, minimal enough, a bigger engine would take away from that, might even be a horrible idea even if it's just an option.
If they were to give it a bigger engine, I think that they should just go crazy with a performance model, kinda like Nissan did with the Juke NISMO. That thing was ridiculous.
One of the things that Acura does well is SUV/CUVs so I would be excited about an Acura version of this. As long as they get the grille right because some Acura grilles are downright ugly.
Yea, Acura keeps things pretty close to the chest. If the HRV is actually delayed for a while longer, then we probably won't see something from Acura for a very long time.
That's no fun. I would have liked to see some more concepts from them, but I guess it's also a good thing that they get right to the point when they're ready.
Acura management is super conservative now a days and they would never put in this engine since it would get the entire company back from where it is now!
They just too stupid to think out of the box and realized buyers want such a turbocharge SUV! Acura will just stick with the boring design and middle of the road vehicles like they have been doing for the past 10 year or more. They cannot even change the beak front grill!
I agree. I understand if they don't want to go too crazy with features, tech, etc that would jack up the price of their cars, instead saying in the entry-level range and dominating that... but even when it comes to entry-level luxury... they wouldn't be the first I go to.
If this is true. The 1.8 @ 165 is a little low for the high end engine choice. I would have liked a "si" type engine (around 200hp). 165hp seems a little low.
I have read articles about a turbo version coming a year or two later. I imagine a 1.5 turbo with around the 200 hp your looking for. Do a google search I'll bet you come across it.
I just hope that Honda puts out a more exciting engine than lets say a 2014 Mazda CX-5. Lately, it's been hard to want to purchase a Honda since they haven't put out any exciting engines to drive. Besides the civic si, honda is behind in providing the driver with a fun driving experience.
I might have to wait for the acura version of the HRV to get an engine with some power. I do like fuel economy but i do also like a fun drive.
