I think the thing looks like a bug. Looks like it might be closer to the interior space of the Mazda CX-3, which means to me small. The HRV has a sense of presence, with the spacious interior to match. I hate the look of the triangle shaped trunks of the Nissan Juke, and that looks awfully close to that.

Of course we all may be biased, mostly being HRV owners. I do agree that all the Honda styling seems to age well. The only Honda cars I think look old now are the pre 2002 civics, or some of the oldest CRV's that look more like a Jeep, anything younger than that I think still looks at home on the road.

At the end of the day, its about how much it will cost and the value it has to me vs my HRV. Though I agree with many of the comments in this thread, I'll reserve judgement until I see the pricing for the various packages Toyota will offer.

My guess it will appeal to those that want a hybrid option and it won't appeal to most HRV owners.

Its definitely polarizing for sure! What I'm reading in this thread is that roughly half the people love the design and the other half hates its. I personally love it! Its daring and futuristic looking! Though I feel like Toyota's latest designs have been a hit or miss for me lately....take for example the latest generation Prius. In my opinion that is an ugly car. With all said an done, I think the CH-R is far from a Pontiac Aztek. I think 98% of people at that time thought that car was ugly. But I definitely appreciate automaker taking design risk. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. In my opinion the Germans use to design breathtaking beautiful cars but lately (the past couple of years) they really have been resting on their laurels. Their cars are still nice but they no longer look like anything special. Its especially made worst by the fact that now its seems that everybody and their mom drives a BMW and Audi! The fact that you see them everywhere coupled by the fact that their design really hasn't change or evolve makes them look even more stale. But to each their own i guess! A lot of people still love those cars so I'm probably in the minority.

From an Aztek blogger:

The Pontiac Aztek’s futuristic styling (targeted at “Generation X” car buyers) was well received upon its reveal in 1999 and enjoyed a short production run as a “sport recreational vehicle.
Generally speaking, "futuristic" designs don't age well.

That's why I wrote "futuristic" designs don't age well.

The car with all the fins is the 1959 GM Firebird III concept car. It was preceded by the Firebird II (1956) and Firebird (1953):

Hot stuff 60 years ago. ;)

And then there was the Ford Nucleon — powered by its own fission reactor!

The High Museum of Art in Atlanta had a great exhibit, "Dream Cars" last summer. Some like the handmade Norman Timbs Special, were actually handsome.

Others, just weird, like the 1948 Tasco:

That wasn't really a review, and seemed somewhat unenthusiastic:

We’ve seen how they look outside, and it is fair to say that the upcoming Toyota C-HR as well as the current Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V look quite appealing in their own distinct ways.
The key thing is how a car looks to you and how well it meets your needs. I made my choice last August and I have no regrets. Nearly a year later, I still hear my wife say, "I love this car" — something I can't remember hearing before in 46 years of marriage.

[Pics] I will have very SEVERE claustrophobia in 2017 Toyota C-HR.

I have captured 3 pics that show you the rear space of 2017 Toyota C-HR from motor.es YouTube channel.

I think I will have very severe claustrophobia in it.
Honestly, it seems worse than Mazda CX-3's rear space. Apparently, it sacrifices rear space for its coupe style.

Thanks for this, here is another (official?) photo of the "view" from the rear seat:

I wish more manufacturers in this segment would take rear + cargo space into consideration. C-HR, the Juke, and Cx-3 seem to sacrifice practicality in order to be more fun or stylish. This is where I think Honda and Subaru (Crosstrek) have it right.

2017 Toyota C-HR Hybrid model offers only Front-wheel drive

According to Toyota Japan official website, 2017 Toyota C-HR Hybrid model can offer ONLY Front-wheel drive.

And 2.0 Gasoline model also gets Front-wheel drive ONLY.

However, 1.2 Turbocharged Engine will offer both FWD and AWD. That explains a lot of the reason why U.S. Market will be able to get only the 1.2 Turbocharged model.
