Is this still an ongoing problem with 2020/21/22 models??? I have no leaks on my 2021 sport yet. But I was going to remove the spoiler to take care of a weeping rear washer nozzle at times...but after hearing how the spoiler is mounted on the hatch I dont knwo if I will remove it now... Have no leaks now and dont want to start...r

We had a 2018 and never had this issue. Not even after I backed into the overhang of the parking garage and had to have the rear hatch repaired. I don't see any sign of it in our 2022 either, and it's sat out through a few torrential rains already.

Just adding onto this growing thread - I have the same issue. Despite my "Comprehensive" warranty, the Honda dealership wants me to pay them $150 for the diagnosis they did it and another $300 to fix it - in my case, the water has filled up the rear taillight, leaked down the rear hatch and has been tripping the alarm in the middle of the night. I wonder if they'll pay for it when the entire electrical system shorts? Or when my neighbours smash out my windows? How about if the taillight fills so much that it stops working? Then maybe?

Really disappointed - got this car from a KIA dealership less than 90 days ago; bought a third-party warranty too (not realizing the car had the existing "Comprehensive" on it). I've escalated the case to Honda Canada Customer Relations/Retention - hopefully someone will help me with this.

Has Honda fixed the problem on the newer HRV 2020 and above.. If so what was the fix???

Same problem here, 2016 HRV-EX bought new. Sounds like gallons of water inside hatch door. It sloshes around when I open/close the door, a little bit drips out.
I ended up having to make a stink with Honda Canada; they assigned a mediator, who told the dealership to cover it - they took three shots at it, replacing one gasket first, then another, and finally the entire light assembly. I'd have been out about $1200 if I'd had paid out of pocket (on a car I just purchased a couple months ago).

This is clearly a defect and Honda should issue a recall / offer to cover the repair costs; it's not just the light, but the entire hatch, including the electrical and alarm that's at risk.

Yes, my HRV has had this problem for 2 years now. Took it in to the dealership many times. They changed the tailgate ruber seal, they adjusted the hatch, changed the wiper motor and re-sealed the screws holding the licence plate, still water comes in when there is a heavy rain. Just yesterday, the dealership now thinks it's the rear spoiler that is not properly sealed around the top of the hatch. ??? Quite discouraged about all of theses repairs that don't solve the problem.
Going through the same crap myself, HRV 2016. The dealership failed twice to fix, now they want to replace the tail gainer lights for over $1000.

Doea anyone know if honda figured out the problem for the newer ones????
We didn't have this issue with either our 2018, or our 2022. Maybe we're just lucky though?

I took mine to the dealer and was told it's not covered under my warranty because I was outside my warranty period. The told me my driver side tail light needed silicone to be sealed.. Wanted to charged me $300 to do it. I said no. I'd do it. Problem is that one of the bolts is very hard to get to. I did discover that if you unscrew the rubber stoppers at the bottom of the tailgate, the water will drain out.

yes started at the beginning of this year 2019 with a dripping now is a river coming out every time it rains and I open the rear gate. Took it to Honda dealer and a tech recommended to replace the gaskets of the 3 rear lights attached to the rear door but Honda wanted $80.00 for the parts and $250 for labor. I refused since in 40 years of buying new cars this is the first time that after 3 years a car starts dripping water inside the body. This shows poor craftsmanship in parts and labor from Honda. Needless to say, I am trading the car to let another consumer be upset with Honda.which they refuse to fix even theTHE CAR HAS 5 YEARS WARRANTY AGAINST RUST FROM THE INSIDE OUT. Great job Honda
I have the same problem which they won't cover in my 2017 HRV. Very dissociated in Honda, Honda Canada useless in customer satisfaction. Though I've owned a couple of Hondas, I will not purchase another now. This is obviously a defect in manufacturing but Honda would rather lose customers then fix the problem. :(

Call Honda Canada and flag this thread and the multiple other threads all over the Internet referring to this exact same issue. This should be a recall, we should not have to deal with this on our own, individually.
I called Ho da Canada, they are giving me the run around. I td him how many people have reported this online but he denies this is an issue.

I have the exact same problem with my 2017 HR V. I'm the second owner... I wonder why! (Sarcasm) :(
