What did you do to your Honda HRV today?

Share what you did today with the HRV community!

Example: I took her out of the garage and gave her a nice bath and followed up with a coat of wax.

Example: Finally got my window tints done, now I can't open my windows for a week :(

Anything goes....

09/14/2021 - I had the 40,000km (25,000 miles) Service carried out on our 2021 HR-V. The vehicle is only 15 months old.
Ordered new rubber mats for our HR-V.
The OEM mats fitted by the dealership have a hole worn through where our RH heel (RH Drive) rests on the mat.
I bought these off eBay Aust. for $175.00 AUD. I did check with the Seller, they do fit our 2020 HRV.

I also bought a Sunglasses Case off eBay too. Shame that Honda couldn't add an over head bin for 2 x pairs of sunglasses and incorporate the map lights into it like Subaru do in their Forester's.

Have used these...

Out of three sets, I have only had one dud so far. To be fair, the one dud may be my fault as well. Still looking into that one as it just occurred in this past week when we were driving through the mountains.

And on what we've done with ours... Just returned from a round-trip to Spokane. Went from 600 miles on the odometer to 5000 in a week. Will be getting the oil changed out this coming week, even though "oil life" is still reading 70%. (Never trust the meters. Always check the fluids yourself.)
Next on the ToDo list is change the year and model in your profile.

Teehee. I had totally missed that part.

Also, an update for the link above. Apparently NightEye is now NovSight. They have some new designs, and there is a new package they have put together as well. This one has both the H11 low beam, and the 9005 high beam paired together.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08T98WXSS
It's fairly reasonably priced at $70 US for all four bulbs.

As usual, the marketing is a wee bit misleading. They state 60W, 22000 Lumens. That appears surprisingly bright, and for sure it is.

Actual specs.
Low beams
  • 55W (per pair I'm assuming. It's also not the 60W stated in the Amazon title.)
  • 6500k color
  • 12,000 Lumens per set (6k each, and it states "up to" so maybe not exactly that many?)
  • 2-year warranty

High beams
  • 55W (Still not seeing 60W here.)
  • 6500k color
  • 12,000 Lumens per set (6k each again. So combined lumens for all four bulbs would be 22,000)
  • 2-year warranty

Now these are the brightest set they make (there are three flavors), and they supposedly have the narrowest beam. Suggested lifespan is 50,000+ hours, which is pretty standard for every LED system advertised. From experience I can tell you that mileage will vary greatly based on how well they are cooled, and how much of the heat builds up in the housing. Both of these have fans, so they might get a bit noisy too.
Company is in Hong Kong, so maybe some information missed in translation. Or maybe the bulbs listed in Amazon are updated from the bulbs listed on their website, and they are actually 60W.

I'll find out tomorrow when the set I ordered yesterday comes in. Oh, it's 1am on Friday already. I'll find out later today. Maybe will get some pics too.
Will the HRV's wiring accept the load?
I don't know a lot about electrics, but I have heard of other makes of cars burning out the wiring because it is too light a gauge.
Subaru's at one stage were melting the plastic fitting at the rear of headlight bulbs that were upgraded.
Thanks for the clarification SlowFosho & SylenThunder, as I said, my electrical knowledge could fill the back of a postage stamp. :ROFLMAO:
Dropped my HRV off at the Alloy Doctor to have the kerb rash repaired. The gouges between 1 & 3 o' clock are real deep, plus two or three in the lower sector.
"The Minister for War & Finance" hit a gutter 2 weeks ago, today was the earliest they could book me in.
I'll post a picture of the finished job later today.

I got a good laugh from your post and also learned that in the future anything wrong with my car will by default be blamed on the wife.
It ain't no joke mate, she really was the culprit.

Here is the result of the visit to the Alloy Doctor.
The damage was in between the 2 arrows.

Now, that is a really good job by Alloy Doctor.

How did they repair it?
I would like to know myself, I had to leave the car there from 8:15am to 4:15PM.
The rim has also been re-balanced, it cost me $250.00 AUD v $450.00 AUD for a brand new rim from Honda.

Here is the link to their website... Alloy Doctor have a look under the heading "Our Work" at the top of the page and then each of the sub headings. Might give you a bit of a clue.
That’s what I meant was funny to me, the royal title that you bestowed upon her.
Ooooops! I missed it.

Not my title mate, that title was bestowed upon her by a builder who built a house for us 16 years ago.
At the completion of the build he asked her how much over the contract price the home cost to build. My wife ran a spreadsheet and costed every little addition - subtraction or alteration as the build went along. So that we never ended up with a bill shock at the end.

I just ordered a set of Carbon Fiber Threshold Protection Stickers like Johnshrv18's, plus a set of interior LED bulbs to brighten up the inside at night.

Can you let me know how the stickers hold up? I'm very interested.
Hi Jabu,
I fitted my Door Sill Protectors today, they took 10 days to arrive from Amazon USA, still waiting for the interior LED bulb set though.

I had to move 2 of the protectors after I had stuck them down. If you have to move them after they stuck down, be VERY,VERY, careful in lifting them up. They can be to stretched, so do it very slowly and in an even way. By that I mean from end to end only. You need to very carefully lifting one corner and move slowly across to the other corner and then carefully pull with an even pressure, keep moving down to as close to where it is stuck down so as not to stretch it, i.e. lift an inch or two and change your grip position.

IMO they should hold up fairly well, they are well made and appear to be quite tough to me. Either way, they beat fixing up scuff marks and scratches on the door sill paint. (y)

Once the wet weather clears and I can clean the car, I will take some photo's.
I will say this much though, the sill protectors don't look as good on my Passion Red car as they do on Johnshrv18's White HRV.

If you need to move them try using a hair dryer to warm them up slightly, but not too much or they'll stretch and lose their shape.
No need for a hair dyer here, it's a lovely 26°C with 66% humidity. (y) :ROFLMAO:

Oof! I could just about cope with the temperatures, but the humidity would just knacker me!

The taxi drivers in Singapore like to have the AC set to Harry von Icers, and then you step outside and are immediately drenched by the humidity. Not a good look for a young man (then!) about town!
I lived in Townsville North Queensland for 33 years, my wife was born there. During Summer the humidity was much like how you described Singapore.
The humidity is mainly what drove us 1300kms South to where we now live. It can still be humid down here, but nothing like up in the Tropics as you well know.
What is this humidity you speak of? Here in Colorado we don't add water to our air.
That's what we Aussie's have the outback for, if you don't like water in your air. :D
Gave the car a belated pre-winter exterior clean;
According to the Samsung Health App, I walked just over 2 miles/4465 steps whilst doing this.
Would have been considerably shorter had you gone to the toilet and had a leak, instead of dancing around trying to hang on.

Here are the promised pictures of my Carbon Fiber (look) Door Sill Protectors. The sill protectors retain scuff marks as can be seen on the front protector. Better that it be the protector though rather than paint.

I put my HRV's battery on the CTEK MS5.0 charger overnight for it's monthly charge. (y)
I do the same too on a monthly basis.
I typically charge it at the month end or beginning of the month.
I have a Calendar on my PC with a reminder set up on it for EOM too. :)

It seems that the JDM Fit and Jazz did have an OEM front Honda emblem that was illuminated. Do either of those emblems work on the HR-V?
Would they even fit into the HRV grille?
If it makes you feel any better it's around $7.85 a (US) gallon here.
I paid $5.85 US gal for 98RON fuel at Costco last Friday.
Normal servos in Brisbane will sting you anywhere from $6.25 up to $6.66 a US gal.
