So, I came across this article about how the Vezel is hitting the China market next month!

Didn't we just see the XR-V last month? Is the XR-V only a concept, and this is the real deal?

The article says that the Vezel was debuted to China last April. Here in the U.S. is was also debuted last April at the N.Y. Auto Show in photo form. Does that mean we might have an earlier than expected delivery date here? I know nobody knows for sure when the HR-V will hit the U.S. market, but one can hope that this is good news for those of us who are waiting!

Oh, and it looks like the Chinese version is getting the manual transmission and a 1.5 and 1.8 liter engines!

After doing a little more research, I think I answered my own question about what happened to the XR-V. It turns out China will be getting BOTH the Vezel and the XR-V, here's a quote from an online article....

"The Honda XR-V is manufactured in China by the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture. It is based on the same platform as the Honda Fit. The Japanese style Honda Vezel will also be available on the Chinese auto market, it will be manufactured by Guangzhou-Honda, Honda’s other Chinese joint venture. China thus, will have the same car twice. This kinda madness is perfectly normal down here where most Western manufactures have two joint ventures with two different Chinese companies, and each wants what the other one has."

i have noticed the industry is focusing on china due to growing demand and making more vehicles tailored for them.

Makes sense. I ran into a similar situation when researching Suzuki motorcycles in China. They sell the GW250 here in NA and i was contemplating it as a commuter, its made in China. Anyways as I was reserching it I thought I was losing my mind as I was coming across two distinct Suzuki's operating in China...

I read up on a number of rider reviews and most have good things to say about it as a commuter. Even on paper it looks to be a great commuter.

They're being built in China for China.
So you won't have to worry about getting one on American soil.

Fits built in China were sold in Canada for several years and I hadn't read about any issues, but that was before the Celaya plant opened. Now Canada will get Fits and HR-Vs from Mexico.

China has more money than the U.S. ... and what little money the U.S. has is borrowed from China?

Seriously, there appears to simply be more "energy" in China, a greater desire to produce, to move forward ... than there is in the U.S. ... or Mexico.

Then there's the 1.3 billion vs. 0.316 billion "market base."
