Thinking of getting its snow chains ahead of time while they are on sale everywhere.

Southern California. Snow chains are always required for ski trips into the nearby mountains (Big Bear, Mammoth, Tahoe) if the roads are not clear - aka it is snowing. In fact, I've always wondered how the rest of the U.S. gets by without them lol.

I bet the lx has 16" while higher trim has 17"

That does make sense. Except that this is the list of features from the Honda website. Note that it doesn't designate 17" alloy wheels as EX or EX-L, suggesting they are standard on all.
