A lot of personal preference.................reviews are more or less just another persons opinion.

They concluded the Weathertech is the best.....I agree, but not because of their findings.
It's because I have used other brands and always came back to liking Weathertech the best.

Had them in our last 4 vehicles and never dissatisfied.

In search of floormats

I have a new 2017 HRV, looking like crazy for floor mats like these:

well, i cant post links yet, but i googled "molded carpet mats" they are carpeted mats, but they have a stiff backing, sidewalls and a rubber pad for your heel on the drivers mat.

I had something similar in my 2001 VW Jetta i am coming from. I don't like the rubber mats because you can't just vacuum them off, you have to hose them, dry them and then they still look bad, i have rubber mats in our VW Routan and i really don't like how they show dirt.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I just got the Weathertech for front, rear, and the cargo liner. Laser designed to fit perfectly. Excellent. Husky is also good. And the rear is one piece and fits the entire width.

I had so many friends rave about Weathertech so I decided to go ahead and give them a try. Love them so far!
Picked up my car Thurs (love it!), ordered my FloorLiner mats on Weathertech's site on Fri (1st and 2nd row) and they were delivered on Sat.
Based on what I'd heard previously, I was expecting to wait a week or two to receive them so I have to say I was very impressed to receive them 23 hours and 51 mins after ordering them.

I was going to order the cargo liner as well but decided I wanted the carpeting to remain, at least in part of the area. I have some movable bookend like things that used velcro to attach to carpet and essentially keep cargo (bags, groceries, whatever) in place wherever you want. I did, however, order a 30" X 15" boot tray that I have placed on the left side of the cargo area from rear seat to back hatch/door (also attached with velcro to not move side to side) to place anything wet or dirty on. It's a nice fit, imo. I suppose it doesn't look as nice as the cargo liner but I really wanted to keep some of the carpet (tray takes up less than half the area).

I took delivery of the car with interior "all weather" mats (front and back) supplied by the Honda dealer at no cost. They are substantial rubber and fit nicely. They stay in place and are easy to clean. I like the look and prefer those to the high sides and deep groove texture of the Weathertech, and I especially get a kick out of the separate rear mats instead of the one piece rear liner from Weathertech. Of course, getting free mats was a factor!. (I had Weathertechs in my other cars, but these OEM HRV mats seem to be really good. If they wear out, I'll replace with Weathertech or Husky.)

Next, I ordered a flat cargo tray made by yet a different competitor from Amazon. The impressive Honda cargo tray was >$80 and the Weathertech version was >$100, both past my budget for a cargo area mat. I rarely haul messy cargo, but it is best to be safe. So I picked this one for $66 and it had really good reviews.

It fits perfectly, looks very good, made of sturdy material, and provides excellent protection from potential spills and mess.
I do love my HRV and understand everyone's motives to keep the carpets clean and dry everywhere.

Onlineangel: time to post a photo of your glorious green EX! Take one in sunshine so the color really shines!

Here are pics of the "Vesul" (mfr.name) rubber cargo mat I installed in the rear of my HRV EX AWD. It may seem to have a very slight ripple as the outdoor conditions were cold and damp and it had just come out of the shipping packaging when I placed it and took the photos. In warmer conditions it flattened right out and now fits even better.
While the Weathertech cargo trays are sold as different for AWD or FWD models, this is fitting just fine with no distinction. It wipes off as clean as anyone would want, has a nice molded pattern to lessen cargo shift, and it got high reviews on Amazon, referred in my posted link above. Less than 2/3 price of equivalent Weathertech.

Soft rubber, very flexible on the back-of-seat side of the cargo mat, as is all around. The sides can be pushed down by cargo without damage.I have not found them to get in the way when loading a full bay of hauling stuff with the seats down. I recently put 7 large sailbags in there, very large sails bagged, but folded flat, coming from the sailmaker loft, and it filled the back, was pretty heavy all of it, but the cargo tray edge was not any interference with loading. (I have not actually tried the cargo tray with a washing machine packed in back there as done by ddemetra! http://www.hrvforum.com/forum/289-honda-hr-v-general-discussion/30426-i-love-my-car-2.html)

I read the specs before purchase at Amazon and the raised edge of the Vesul-made rubber tray I bought are the same height as the Honda OEM mat, which I measured at the Honda dealer. I don't think there is any difference in the two products except the ribbing/molded pattern of the surface. I didn't see the back edge any lower on the Honda version.

Yes. It's my experience after a lot of research that the "2016" mats will also fit a 2017 HRV.
I think your risk of a mis-fit is very little. The car did not change from one model year to the next. I'm assuming your car is a United States HRV, not European or Pacific model, which I can't speak for.
Buy the Aries mats. They will fit and look good. Enjoy.

There are all-weather floor mats and there are floor liners that cover more surface area. I went with the floor liners by WeatherTech. I think I'll be really glad to have floor liners with raised sides once we hit the slushy salty winter season.

I also considered the liners by Husky, which seems to be the other big name. I believe the Husky ones have those spikes on the bottom so the mat doesn't slide around. But floor liners are contoured to the exact shape of the car floor, so they can't really move anyway. I actually chose WeatherTech because I didn't want liners with spikes would could leave a pattern of dents in the original floor/carpeting.

Anyway, I'm pleased enough with WeatherTech floor liners I got (front and back) that I decided to also pick up their cargo area liner. There aren't many photos of it online (other than one product shot) so I can post photos of mine once I get it.

I had the Weather Tech custom floor liners in my 2010 Fit. They did "fit" perfectly. Although, over time, the driver mat began to slide around & became annoying. The passenger one was fine. For my HR-V, I decided to go with the Husky liners because of the spikes holding in place. Just got my HR-V yesterday and the Huskies are coming tomorrow. I had the Honda OEM rubber mats in the back of my Fit and kept them. They work very well in the HR-V- cleaned them up and they look nice. I prefer separate mats over a one piece liner.
Still wondering whether to place them on top of the carpet mats or remove the carpet mats.
Just noticed that the current breed of WeatherTech floor liners actually lock into place. My old ones did not have that- they just and a hollowed out bump that covered the floor locks. I'll post pix of the Huskies when I get them

I removed the carpet mats in front so as to prevent bulk, bunching or a poor fit with the “locks” on the drivers side floor. In back, I left the factory carpet mats in place and put the separate rubber mat on each side right over the carpet mat. I rarely have passengers so I changed as little as possible back there.

I know I will have to remove the front mats where the Huskies go so I can lock in place. My question was about the rear carpet mats where I will place the Honda all weather ones.
So far, they seem to fit on over the existing carpet mats, so I will do as Gizmo suggested and leave them. Providing some extra protection, right? I rarely have passengers in back so it should not make much difference.
