I have a Honda HR-V, around 3 years old and still under warranty. Check CTBA light will appear intermittently every couple of weeks - more often than not when I start the car in the morning, parked in a cool garage. My dealership looked at it last month but couldn’t recreate the issue and sent an email to Honda asking for further advice. After no response, I followed up Honda myself. The email response I received was that “dashboard lights were functioning within normal specifications” and that if I was dissatisfied I could seek a second opinion from another authorised Honda dealership although “It is likely the result will remain the same”. This PISSED me off. I’ve just today written them an email: This is not a minor inconvenience or a cosmetic glitch. This is a critical safety system warning. The City-Brake Active system is designed to prevent collisions, and its intermittent failure, as evidenced by this warning light, means my vehicle's fundamental safety features are compromised. The potential for this system to fail precisely when needed is a terrifying prospect and completely unacceptable for a vehicle still under manufacturer's warranty. Honda's response to date, which effectively places the burden of diagnosis on a dealership that cannot replicate the issue, and my subsequent direct contact with you yielding no resolution, is both inadequate and deeply concerning. I am left driving a vehicle that is demonstrably experiencing a fault with its assisted braking system, and Honda appears unwilling to take responsibility for its proper diagnosis and repair. Not good enough, Honda!
