No USA crash test score for HR-V to compare yet. Ligher weight...who cares on that one? Fuel efficient...Crosstrek is rated better on highway. On my test drive on the same route I got 32mpg Crosstrek and 28.5 HR-V.

You are forgetting one major thing....how each drives. This is why HRV4ME likes the Crosstrek so much, as do I and others here who have also test driven both vehicles. I was all set to buy the HR-V and was just waiting for one to come in, then I test drove the Crosstrek and the HR-V on back to back drives on the same route. The Crosstrek drove much better, IMHO. Much smoother on a road that has a lot of shallow potholes, and better handling on curves.

These are both very good cars. There are many subjective or non subjective qualities to be compared, and each person has their individual priorities.

If you have driver both, and find for your priorities the XV is a better fit, please go and buy one. No need to insult others.

The weight of a car may be more important to some then others.

If effects things like weight per horsepower, which many people do care about, and also the HR-V is the winner of.

As someone that has had a Honda Civic as my only family car for the last 20 years, weight is important to me.

Weight equates to the amount of force applied throughout the frame of the car, engine, transmission, drive-train, suspension, bearings, brakes.

This happens in every acceleration, deceleration, around every corner, over every hill.

When it comes to long term reliability, operating costs,a lighter car has advantages.

How much price investigation have you been doing? The cheapest Crosstrek CVT MSRP with delivery is 24145. Seems overpriced. The base Mazda with a real automatic and AWD is 22090 similarly equipped. For 24970 you get a whole raft of stuff the Subaru lacks. Rear Cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring , heated seats and mirrors, leatherette, fobless smart entry.
Never mind the Mazda's superior power, handling, fuel economy and interior quality.

I need to correct myself. I was double counting the delivery charges on the CX-3. It is actually cheaper even when equipped with all those goodies the Crosstrek doesn't offer at this pricepoint. 24090 vs 24145. If you don't need AWD as many of us don't the Subaru becomes way overpriced, with the Mazda at 22840 and the Subaru at 24145

Want a Crosstrek with Navi? Shell out 27645
Cx3 purchase for 20840. Plug in the Navi for 500. It comes prewired switched and screened for a total of 21340.

Want a sunroof? Again an option package that runs total to 27647
CX3 Mid level Touring plus inclusive option package. 24,240 or 25490 with AWD.

Subaru has little flexibility in option pricing and is thousands higher than CX3 or HRV when comparably equipped.

Need space: Buy a HRV
Need a fun drive ; Buy a CX-3
Need a little of both but not too much of either, buy a Subaru. Just be prepared to pay for it.

Later Sorry Mistake later detected. Subaru can be optioned with moon roof 25145.

How are things coming along with your decision on your next vehicle?

Last time I was at my local Subaru dealership, inventory was excessively low for all their models. Seems nearly every Crosstrek, Forester, Legacy, and Impreza is sold while in transit, before it even hits the dealership.

You can add to your list the superior crash test scores, winner HR-V
Cargo area winner HR-V
Rear seat room HR-V
Easier to park winner HR-V
Lighter winner HR--V
Fuel efficent winner HR-V

Towing capacity winner XV
Clearance winner XV
4WD winner XV

Good luck with your decision,
care to add to the list HRV(or XV)4ME

Seriously? Sorry, but I am not seeing where that was disrespecting you or anyone else.

Without checking the numbers, the two of them are about 100 pounds apart. The Crosstrek is 6 inches longer. The two weight/torgue etc. ratios were already posted earlier in this thread.

I am thinking about driving down to Silver Spring MD tomorrow to visit with the Costco Subaru dealer. Am thinking about test driving the HR-V one more time, and also want to test drive the Forester without test driving the Crosstrek, so that I don't compare those two. Leaning towards 2016 Forester at this point....

Test Drove Both... Buying an XV CrossTrek!!!

I've had time in both now and I believe the CrossTrek is the superior vehicle. Better ride, better handling (feels more secure), and the best AWD system. In a deluge or blizzard, I definitely think the CrossTrek is the safer option. And the ground clearance is legit, not a wannabe 7.2'. Seating position is also better in the CrossTrek as it's raised Impreza, so it's carlike. Oh, and 34 HIGHWAY!!!!!!!

The Magic Seats is the only clear advantage that the HR-V has over the CrossTrek, but it is at the expense headroom for rear passengers. CrossTrek has also been out for a very long time, so reliability is proven. The HR-V is built in Mexico and we don't know what first year issues might come out of it.

So, why do you feel the need to start another Crosstrek thread on an HRV forum, in the General HRV General Discussion forum?
Why not add to the other one that is already 700+ replies deep?

We don't need you to come on the HRV forum and gloat about another vehicle and slam the HRV......
We know better...

Who's trolling who?

I really think Subarus are made to order. Most dealers want you to order the car and wait 6 to 8 weeks. Thats why alot are sold in transit. I remeber when i was looking at the XV they said i could get a better deal if i ordered from the Factory. I really like the way honda packages there cars. Lx, ex,exl. You kind of already know what you are getting. With subaru u might find the color u like but it has nav, or missing a sunroof ect...

Drving home today i saw a Silver xV and a 15/16 white forester right behind it and the forester looked alot better to me. It looked alot bigger and less rounded then the XV...

Personally, I like to have a variety of opinions on the forum. You don't get to learn as much if everyone on the forum is a HRV fan boy who gets mad when anyone says anything bad about the vehicle.

That's my 2 cents.

I agree. Each vehicle have their own good and bad. Depend what u need vehicle for. Do not start another and say ur vehicle is good. I can tell many bad side about subaru that not suit me. So keep it in hrv vs subaru.

I know it's crazy. I seen a sport limited Impreza with a sticker of 28k..

I think the HRV looks more sportier and more grown-up than the XV. The Subaru looks more like a weekend outdoorsy let's go camping and fishing.

The HRV looks like you could pull up to a fancy restaurant and have a it valet without feeing like a kid.
Yes! Totally why I'm considering the HRV over the XV. I can actually pull up to a red carpet without feeling as out of place as an XV and still keep my weekend life outdoors =)

I am with the group on this. The other HR-V vs CrossTrek has some good info and opinions from people who have looked at both. This one reads like his / her decision is the right one and the HR-V is crap. When the OP uses words like superior, better (three times), best, safer and legit on the CrossTrek and wannabe for the HR-V it sounds a little insulting to our intelligence for choosing the HR-V.

"Better ride"...to you
"Better handling (feels more secure)"...to you. I drove both and thought the HR-V handled better...too me.
"Best AWD system. In a deluge or blizzard, I definitely think the CrossTrek is the safer option. And the ground clearance is legit, not a wannabe 7.2'."...Blizzard, really? How deep of snow are you plowing through with a raised Impreza, or an HR-V? Best AWD system, I am sticking with my Land Rover and will argue that one all day long.
"Seating position is also better in the CrossTrek as it's raised Impreza, so it's carlike."...Exactly, I thought it felt like an Impreza.
See, we all have opinions and that is all they are, opinions.
