'Slow close' of front seat armrest/Console lid

Has anyone else experienced the console lid no longer able to stay open without having to hold it up? Mine now needs to be held open in order to access storage and I have to carefully make sure it shuts otherwise it would just flop and slam closed. There used to be some tension that would keep the lid open on its own and some resistance when trying to close it. Now it feels loose and broken more or less.

Is there a DIY to tighten the console lid so it can hold itself open or should I just have the dealer fix it? Thanks!

This is somewhat relieving to hear and I am not the only one. I plan on having it addressed this weekend with my oil change. I definitely don't abuse the lid so I hope once it's fixed, it doesn't happen again.

I doubt this is the kind of thing Honda would ever spin up a recall for unless it was causing injuries or fatalities.

Had it fixed last week. They actually installed a brand new console lid. Already, you can feel the resistance with the lid getting looser. I fear I may have to replace it again down the road. Open and close yours carefully!

Frustrated. After getting the lid fixed...the new one is starting to exhibit the same behavior. I certainly do not abuse the lid when I open and close it. The storage sucks anyway but luckily it's enough to phone which I store it in everyday while at work.
