Shock absorber replaced

I have a 2016 HRV EX
I noticed a rattle a month or so ago. I removed anything from the vehicle that could have caused the noise.
Theres 26,600k miles. The dealer replaced the drivers side rear shock as it was leaking fluid, which fixed the issue. Under warranty.
2 questions.
Is this a common issue at the low mileage that's on the vehicle?
Should the shock on the passenger side be replaced even though its still in good shape? I assume.
Thinks for your response.

You should really start your own thread, but yes, this is extremely common at low mileage unfortunately and repairs are well documented if you search around

Rattle in back end when going slower speeds and bumps

Hello:

Our 2017 HR-V- has developed a rattle that sounds like it is coming from the rear suspension. In fact, we took it into our dealer and they too hear it and checked things over really well and couldn't pinpoint the source.

They thought it sounded like a rear shock/strut was bad so they replaced one side and the noise seemed to have gotten a little better but it's back full force now.

My wife and a service advisor took out a brand new HR-V and test drove it and it too made the same rattle in the rear end.

There are NO Tech Bulletins on this at all. The dealership told us we are up the creek until Honda discovers this on their own an comes out with a fix.

So if our's is doing it and a brand-new HR-V is doing it surely others have this also. Anyone else know the source of this and how to fix it.

It's really annoying when going like 35 mph or less and going over bumps. Really sounds like the suspension in the back of the car is going to fall right off the vehicle.

Unbelievable that Honda hasn't discovered this or fixed it so far.

Thanks to anyone with any insight into this issue! :|

2017 HRV EX-L AWD ~18k miles - Same issue - slight knocking noise from rear passenger side when driving under 20 mph.
Dealership initially stated it was not a strut issue after 24 hours with vehicle. They wanted to go over the car again to ensure it wasn't the seat latches/seat belts. I contacted them back and advised that I would like them to double check the rear passenger strut, as I've done my research, and also had a family member (who's a mechanic) look over the vehicle. The tech got an attitude, and ensured that it wasn't the struts. I told him to double check the rear strut anyways. Note - We could feel the strut clicking when rocking the vehicle up and down, through the bolt in the trunk. This bolt can be located by removing a small trim box in the trunk.
Dealership called me back this morning - They have re-created the sound, and diagnosed the issue as... (wait for it)...the rear right strut. Hm...pays to do your research before you go into any dealership with any issue.

Shocking!

Well, I asked them to check while it was up in the air for a Transmission oil change... and sure enough, the rear shox are both
leaking. I noticed when I put on the winter wheels. They had to order, as another set of HRV shox just went out the door earlier today!

34,500 miles and this will be the third set of shox. And when this third set fails? Who pays for the fourth?
That's my question.

my comment...

Have read a bunch of this thread-whatever...

Your/our WONDERFUL DEALERS (oh my, so helpful, technically austute - and wonderful), are installing ONE shock absorber when, guess what, folks...

You have driven X miles. One shock is bad, so Dealer replaces only one. NOW you have a mis-match. One new, one worn with whatever mileage
you have on it.

Do you honestly think this is acceptable? I DO NOT!

Well, thank god, soon we will only be passengers in a robotic transport unit. We won't have to actually know anything. What a relief, eh?

And soon, we will be able to stop arguing about which engine oil is REALLY the BEST. I suppose such will be supplanted with, "The material which my electric motor's stator is made of
is waay better than yours... in fact, my grandpa swears by the stuff!

Well, in my opinion... blah, blah, blah... etc. etc.

clunk in front

my car has clunk sound and it comes from front and i have FWD HR-V with under 16 000km and this all started before 5000km .
So the problem is in front passenger axle outer side not tarnsmission side. I myself had to FIND this issue because any HONDA services told me that clunking is normal and it comes from shock absorber, saying it is "work sound" of a dampers :D (lol wtf) really??? was my response because i have never heared term like that!
Services here in Estonia wont help costumers and leave them as dumb users to sit on their defective cars :( sadly

Was it loose, or defective. Apparently the assembly line has an issue. I was hesitant on buying a car not made in Japan.

Hello again. Finaly i found it all by myself: I tied both front lower arms tight to the frame and the clunk is gone. These bushing are too soft or pressed in in wrong direction making it possible to move and thump to the frame...o_O

My 2019 has 15,+ miles has the same racket going on
sounds like it's coming from right rear. Have appointment this week. We'll see what the dealer says.?
I was having the same issue and it ended up being the rear middle seat seatbelt latch bumping against its holder in the ceiling. (If you don’t have it in use). It turns out there’s a little hole in the holder you can put the metal of the latch in, once they did that the sound completely went away and I felt ridiculous ?
