Share what you did today with the HRV community!

Example: I took her out of the garage and gave her a nice bath and followed up with a coat of wax.

Example: Finally got my window tints done, now I can't open my windows for a week :(

Anything goes....

Pearl got her accessories today! Someone had asked me to post pics, but I can't remember what thread it was, so I'll post them here. Sport Grill and lower trim. Before is left or top, after is right or bottom.

Any product recommendations? I've previously been on a yearly wash, never wax type schedule and I'd like to take a bit more care of this one.

1 I Do a thorough wash
1A Nanoskin wash mitt, it's kinda like claying a car. I do it once in spring and once in fall, this will take any wax or sealant off. Far easier than using a clay bar
2 Klasse all-in-one polish. I use this on the rubber seals and all glass but the windsheild. RainX on the windshield
2A Klasse sealant, spring and fall
3 Collinite 845 wax

Other favorites
Sprayway glass cleaner or Stoner Invisible Glass Cleaner. The can always works best IMO
I like 303 for my faux leather seat covers and tires every now and then
Meguiar's Natural shine on hard plastics like your dash and door panels
Plexus for clear plastic like my head lights, tail lights and bug guard
Meguiar's ultimate waterless wash on my aluminum wheels
Gary Deans ultimate juice for detailing spray, lube
I guess the wife is right, I have a mild case of OCD

I drive a Ridgeline but we put a down payment on a HR-V for the wife that's "in transit"
I can't wait to get my hands on it

This is the price I am paying with installation in Maryland.

17" Machine finish alloy wheels $1,474.80
door edge guards $122.88
splash guard set(front & rear) $161.88
lower trim front $328.38
lower trim rear $369.18
moonroof visor $187.26
grill sport $360.78
interior illumination $201.90
remote engine start system 11 $611.58

Is it too much? May be. But that was the cheapest of the 6 dealers that I got the price from.

I took my HR-V to a self-serve car car wash today..unfortunately the black plastic bumper and trim turned white. I think the chemicals in the Seattle "Eco friendly" soap did something to it. I have to call my detailer up to have him try and fix it. You can see the white streaks in the picture. I never had a car with plastic cladding, anyone have tips or tricks for care?

What is the lower trim made from? Is it chromed/painted plastic? I like the look but don't think I could justify the cost. I definitely want some door edge guards. I'm notorious for parking the door next to the pole at gas stations. Maybe splash guards too. We'll see what pattern the road grime makes in the rain this week.

Most of the trim on the HR-V is just regular black plastic. I have the door guards which came pre-installed by the dealer. My dealer didn't put the color coded ones on, just basic black. At first I didn't like the look, but they saved me from opening my door in the garage and hitting the edge on a box.

Dang, they're usually good too! Brown Bear in Ballard isn't a self wash though it's a tunnel wash, might be less likely to use recycled water? I've heard self washes are notorious for that. Not sure if any of the east side Costco's have car washes, but they're relatively good. Doesn't quite get everything, left shadows of dirt under the spoiler and behind the side mirrors of my old Fit but definitely reduces the work and even shined up the tires nice. My neighborhood has all natural drainage and bioswales so they super frown on home washing... But new car! I might have to be an HOA rebel until I get brave enough to go back to the car wash.

I tinted my windows on my EX today, front of course but I also tinted the back darker while I was at it. 20 percent up front, and added 30 or something to the rears to get them to match. Looks GREAT on my white HR-V. Once I clean it this weekend and can wash the windows I will share some photos if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Installed a steering wheel cover:

I used the word "Install" since it took quite an effort to put it on. Thought it would never fit after a few tries until my partner came to the rescue. Maybe I am a bit picky but the stock steering wheel just blows, hopefully this cover will help.

Agree about not liking stock wheel. Am going to order from Wheelskins. Have used them before - they are great.

Husband installed the splash guards. Bought the door film and remote starter, not installed yet. Also got those pocket caddy's that go between the seats and console. Look good, haven't used the car with them yet - hopefully they will be good. Also got the rubber floor mats - have to vac before installing those! As mentioned below, will be ordering leather steering wheel cover from Wheelskins (great luck with them in the past) and some kind of vent clip for my phone, as I like to be able to see it while driving. Like the idea of something going on the vent to the right of the driver.

Cool! I put 4 in my Fit last week and it looked like I lowered it with hydraulics LOL. Not sure if I could stand mulch smell with new car smell for that drive home though!

I'll be handwashing this weekend. Lots of dust in my work neighborhood (industrial area + airport) and of course some bird found the car in the lot with the temp plates.

This is my first post..here I go : I'm driving my HRV LX 6M for a week, the modern steel metallic was my favorite color for years and finally i got it. I'm installing the tint at this very moment, maybe because the interior is all black keeps the temperature higher than my other vehicle. Next im gonna apply a coat of wax to keep it protected from the sun here in Tennesse. So far Im happy with it...people stare at the car more often than i thought.. jajja.

Saturday morning I washed my HR-V. Thought I was okay with it drying in the shade while I quickly helped my father dig up some potatoes in the garden next to our house. Got done with that and came back to find it drying with water spots. So, not a complete new wash, but I did rewet everything and go over it with a microfiber towel. Then I dried it off properly.

Took a nap after lunch and while doing so, my weathertech floormats arrived. My husband installed them before I ever even woke up. He was very impressed with the fit. I meant to take some photos yesterday, but I realized how dirty they already were and wasn't up to cleaning them just for a photo. It really showed how needed they were though!

Saturday evening I wiped the car off and then waxed it. Next time I'll try to get the wash, dry, and wax all done at the same time.

Sunday evening I cleaned my glass some and did some of the interior and outside black plastic.

While this is probably stuff people do right away....

I broke out the manual and started reading. Then put the disc in my computer and read some more. I finally found out how to change some things. I changed the color on the ring around the speedometer. It's now purple. I changed the color for the radio stuff. Also purple. I then added a picture for my wallpaper.

Even though i added the wallpaper I don't know when you'd actually see it. Ha! More excuses to play around with it. ?

It's through the info screen I think. It shows the time and date. Some info across the top when songs change. I find I missed all my audio info, so I went back to having the audio screen show.
