What is everyone doing with the green USB2 port on the back of the radio or do y’all have that plug on your harness? Ours doesn’t and I think that may be the issue we are having.

Says my car must be stopped to connect to BT even though it’s in park and the ebrake is on. When I plug the phone in to the USB it shows the USB on the screen but says no phone is connected

its not going to work because the EX & EXL have a separate wires that sends signal to the bcm to tell it if is in park or not. Also the BCM has other wires that go to headunit to determine if the vehicle is in motion or if the airbags have deployed which will use the Bluetooth system to call 911. Since the LX wiring does not have those wires already pre setup its going to cause issues like this. The CRV radio has the necessary parameters for it to work on HRV but only on EX and high trim models. I ran into an issue trying to install the CRV radio on LX CRV which is missing the same parameters as the HRV LX

Having issue where I get past the yes/no to update screen, the system reboots, and then it just tells me the USB could not be read properly. Have tried 5 different flash drives with FAT32

So I just installed mine in my son's HRV and it was asking for an unlock code cause it was powered off for to long. Thank god for the internet, here is the site just in case anyone else needs an unlock. Luckily the salvage yard had a tag on the radio with the VIN# and Serial #.

Honda Radio/Nav Unlock Code Retrieval

Gonna have to dremel his metra dash install kit cause the CRV radio is a little to big.
So everyone else says the Vezel one fits but according to the size measurements the metra kit for HRV should fit it as well?

I'm just wondering what is the total cost of everything for this retrofit after all is said and done? Also, what's the average total time spent to do this retrofit?

The critical point for everyone to be aware of is that you have to have a 2016-2018 HRV EX or higher trim level for this swap to work.
Plus the amplifier differences if you have an HRV EXL or are swapping in a head unit from a CRV EX-L into a lower level HRV.

It does appear that for plug and play that you need to swap in a CRV EX head unit into a HRV EX.
And a CRV EX-L head unit into a HRV EX-L.
Plus be aware that this thread only applies to US 2016-2018 HRV's.

I wonder if one of the mods could change this thread title to include the critical trim detail?
@Einz @SlowFosho

Perhaps improve the thread title to:
"Finally Carplay for 2016-2018 HRV EX or Higher Trim Models! (CRV Head Unit)"

Just a thought that will help everyone before they consider this swap.
