…for everyone with a leak, do any of you use your sunroof? There is a tree from a neighbor that has debris falling on my HR-V, just wondering if it will eventually cause a clogged drain even if I keep my sunroof closed while it’s parked or while driving?

Do any of you notice a water leak after washing your HR-V?

We just got a sunroof issue as well in our 2019 HRV seems the drain for the roof clogged and drained into the fuse box and shorted out they want 1700.00 to fix it, the warranty ran out last month. The alarm started going off, the doors wouldn't open with the FOB , now they don't have parts to repair it this is not a ok design, Honda needs to cover this , where do you call to get this resolved.

This might fall under a maintenance issue argument that you may not win.
Mine was clogged with appeared to be white polish/compound that hardened -
after the body shop that did some repair work they polished the whole car - so i have to assume that was the culprit.

Hi. I have a 2016 HRV which I bought brand new from a Honda dealership. This year, after it rains, there is a large water puddle inside the car on the front passenger floor bed. This has happened quite a few times. I did not leave the window open if anyone was wondering. I took it to the Honda dealer service and they basically said it was a clogged air conditioner. They apparently fixed and I paid $150 for the diagnostic and repair out of pocket though I was still in my 3 year warranty. 3 weeks later, after it rained, there is still a puddle in my car. The interior now has a foul odor due to the water damage. I take the car back to the same Honda service. It’s been over a week and a half and they never contact me to update me. I call and the mechanic says he still can’t find the source. My warranty expires in a few days.
Has anyone had this issue with the leak? I called Honda and made complaint. I don’t know what to do at this point. Please help.
This exactly what I'm experiencing and tomorrow I will be getting a diagnostic done and fee is $150

Slightly OT, as regards the Diagnostic Fee, do you not get it back if they find a fault and the vehicle is under warranty, or if the vehicle is out of warranty and they find a fault, get the fee deducted from the repair bill? That's been my experience.

Dealers tend to charge a 'diagnostic fee' to prevent their bays and time being taken up with non specific faults; my car doesn't feel right or, I think my car has a fault can you check it out and having to turn away or delay dealing with customers with actual issues as with the cases here.

Not sure but how many drain lines are there for the sunroof? If more than one, could it be a second one? But you would think they would do all drain lines.

good luck.
There are six three on each side. Rear ones are under the roof panel and not serviceable! From under the car they are well inside the rear bumper. So again not really serviceable. Poor design.!

Just had this problem with my 2017. Flooding in tyre well and rear seat. I don't see vow these could be serviceable given the locations of the drains. Front ones are OK you can see them. The rear ones are under the roof panel! No mentioned in the owners manual about cleaning or maintenance.

Six ?
i think 2 total -
Interesting. The diagram I saw showed two front. two rear and two at the door pillars. Mine definately has two front and two back. The two are only accessabile from under the car and if you have multi directional elbows, to get to them you need to remove the wheel arch lining and ideally the bumper.
I haven't found the exits for then door pillars if they exist

well this is for a North America model - and they only have 2.
Hot soapy water works well to clean them on the regular.

Omg we had the same problem on the front passenger side, floor leak. Took the door apart and you can see the water pouring in through the door handle!! Not sure how we're going to go about fixing it.

Today is 10/02/2022. Raining in Philadelphia since yesterday.
today I opened my Honda HR-V 2018 with a sunroof (the car was last used yesterday, all was good, but it was raining nonstop since) and my driver-side floor has more than an inch of water. Water is coming down from under the dashboard panel in the corner and leaks over the hood and gas openers (not sure how these little pedals are called correctly). Not sure what to do.
This car seems to have a lot of problems, first I had to replace broken shock absorbers in the back during my very first inspection on the car with no miles on it, then squirrels find tasty stuff to eat under the hood, now this????

Same thing happened with my mom’s 2016 HRV twice this week. Water in both side on the floorboard. Opened sunroof and both front sunroof drains were clogged, cleaned them out, hopefully that’s the fix.

after is top photo, before is bottom. You can see the hole cleared out in the first photo. Take a look and see if this is the same on your vehicle.

Thanks for responding. I forgot to mention and I was told it was the a/c line too at the Honda service. They supposedly fixed it and charged me. It rained again and it still puddles. Now the Honda service mechanic verbalized he has no idea why it’s still puddling.
Did you ever get this resolved? I also have a 2016 HRV that I bought brand new and it has begun doing the exact same thing.

I thought I saw that the sunroof drains being clogged can cause the same issue.
the honda dealership said they found the problem, which appears to be the sunroof drains/pipes but it will cost me $15,000 for them to fix it and because the interior is molded from the water leak. i rarely drive which is why i am late with this issue and the water ruined the interior. they need to assess how much damage was done. but i really just need for them to fix the leak which will cost $15,000, does this cost make sense?
