15 inch wheels, 4.3 inch LCD, and rear drum brakes standard on the Corrola L, now that's silver platter.
Actually, even the lowest rental car trim (the one that's $1000 cheaper than the Civic) has a 6.1" LCD screen. The L is the trim that almost no normal consumers buy; it's primarily a fleet and rental trim.

The trim that costs the same as the Civic LX has 16" wheels just like the Civic, but has a bunch of stuff that the Civic doesn't like variable intermittent wipers (I had this on a 1995 Corolla so why it's not standard today blows my mind), rear seat center armrest, rear cup holders, and heated power mirrors. Mind you this is the best Civic in decades. And let's be honest, most people buying these cars aren't even going to know drum brakes from disc brakes, and it can be argued that on a light economy car drum brakes are superior from a practicality point of view.

That being said, I'm no fan of Toyota because they make boring soulless cars, but come on, would it kill Honda to offer some of those things as standard? It's especially annoying when some of those things aren't offered simply because they need to protect the higher trim car (by gimping the base trim).

Maybe it's my middle aged sense of style, but I do not care for that. I prefer the more conservative approach. I usually have to be sold on the looks of Honda, but I find their designs seem to "age" better. What looks stylish and bold now, just seems dated in a few years. I think that both my 02 CRV and my 05 Pilot still look at home on the road today. Now, that being said, the current CRV is a real stinker design wise. We are picking up our white 2WD EX HRV this afternoon, and I hope we get the same 230,00 miles out of it that we got out of our Pilot.

Why is it SO hard for Japanese car makers to design a nice looking car (HRV excepted)? Yak!
Even UGLIER than the prototype.
By the way, Korean car makers are just as bad.

Hey how would you exactly design a nice looking car that would be both attractive and practical??

I think the thing looks like a bug. Looks like it might be closer to the interior space of the Mazda CX-3, which means to me small. The HRV has a sense of presence, with the spacious interior to match. I hate the look of the triangle shaped trunks of the Nissan Juke, and that looks awfully close to that.

Of course we all may be biased, mostly being HRV owners. I do agree that all the Honda styling seems to age well. The only Honda cars I think look old now are the pre 2002 civics, or some of the oldest CRV's that look more like a Jeep, anything younger than that I think still looks at home on the road.
